Its a Japanese import left hand drive soft top.
I am wondering if its about the same size inside as my 77 FJ40 I just sold?
I am a pretty big guy and without those seat bracelets I got to back up the seat
I really couldn't use the clutch and brakes without hitting my knees.
Was a safety problem a few times too.
Its way out of town so I cant just go sit in it.
Just wondering how they compare to the FJ40's.

Thanks PG

Interesting - JDM were RHD. Should be larger on the inside. I owned a 40 and now own a 73 MWB. Doors larger (same as 70) and more room.

I am 6' tall and 300 lb most days, fits just fine with the larger door.

Yes I am going to bid on it I think. Does that mean its a conversion?
What do yall think its worth? Did they every make hard tops for these?
Thanks PG

It is in Miami, it is LHD, it is gas, it is a model not sold (as I understand) in Japan, it is tarted up with a bunch of accessories, it is beautiful and mysterious....... but seriously - this is likely a Colombian or Venezuelan rig, not Japanese.

Suggest you take a deep breath, search the MUD threads, talk to several importers that are vendors here - do some research and become an educated buyer. You will probably end up with a better rig and a better transaction. I speak from experience......

That's why I am posting it here!
Sold my FJ40 but do like this and I like things no one else has for my toy.
Anyone else have a way to figure it out from the info plate shown third to last picture?
It says Toyota Motor Corporation Japan
Model FJ70L - MR
Engine 3F
Frame FJ70-0004071
Color 147 Trim LA11
Trans/Axel H55F K085
Plant A11

Someone here will know what all that means!
Thank you in advance for the help. PG

Use MUD Search, do research....

Not sure what you are looking for but here is what I see/think -
It is a South American truck (my opinion) beware of high miles, heavy use and rust (for trucks from some areas)
It was built in Japan
It was LHD from the factory
It has a carburetor (3F) and parts are not always the same as North American 3FEs with fuel injection
It was probably sold as a 1986 (my opinion, due to build date/model year run)
It has a heavy duty, full float rear axle (if my memory serves correctly on code K085)

It's an adventure! Good luck. :)

I love the knowledge everyone has on this site!
Keep opinions and facts coming I appreciate the help! PG

Is there a way to tell if it is the original color?
Silver Metallic Clearcoat 147
I did a Google search and it appears to be the original color to me?
He claims no rust. I will ask if its been repainted.
Thanks for all the helpful post! PG
Yes, go look at it, but most of the guys/gals on this site would probably rank color originality at the bottom of the top 20 important things to worry about.

Well its not important to me unless it was a wrecked rust bucket that was all bondod up and repainted.
I got one before and the jackass claimed it as all original then when I got there it had a s***ty paint job with
a color change six months prior. Long story I ended up buying it loved it but demanded about 5K off the orignial price for a '
little rust and the s*** paint job he lied about.
Again the reason I am here posting is because I know all the great posters her know their s***.
PG

Also I am asking the seller all of these questions but many sellers lie or dont know their s***.
I learned from my last mistake and started here for that reason.
I wish I had found this site before I bought my last one with no knowledge of what I was doing.
Still worked out I had fun with it for three years and got my money back out of it other then the stereo I added.
The baby blue showing through all the chips and flaked off areas drove me nuts and repainting would have cost too much.
I couldn't find a quote under 7K ouch. PG

it has been transplanted with a 1fz engine, no longer a 3F unless the switched heads so the exhaust comes out the right side.

who know delivery area, could easily be a drug runner car if you listen to folks on this forum.

Great help good info I will ask if it has been changed but done right is that a bad thing?
Just wondering the opinion.
It has been repainted he did it but from the images it looks like it was done right.
He imported it from Brazil and fixed it up himself from what it sounds.
I have asked some more questions.
Assuming its as good as it looks what do you all think is a correct price to pay?
It may not matter he might have a huge reserve or something on it I don't know.
Thanks again PG

Built in Japan for the European market maybe or ?.
Has the late 90s grill
