Hi, Folks:

Newbie here...looking to move from a 2016 4Runner to a 2013 or so Land Cruiser. There are a few pre-owned Cruisers I'm looking at, and I've been here gathering as much info and knowledge as I can. One that tops my list is a 2013 with 75k miles, listed for $45k. Seems to be clean inside and out, but the undercarriage could use some freshening up (rust). I intend to have a Cruiser specialist shop I know take a look at it for me, but with the price/miles/condition is it worth pulling the trigger?

Thanks!

Take some pictures of the rust and post them

That price is a bit high? I was looking at a local 2013 here in Oregon 42,000 miles $48,000. Rust never sleeps!

That price seems crazy high. I purchased my 2014 in mint condition, 63K miles, with transferable 100K bumper to bumper for 42.5K.

This is one I’m looking at...

That’s no problem as long as you clean it up and paint it and make sure that it doesn’t come back just check it every year clean up anything is see and keep going
I talked to the tech that serviced it...he said the exact same thing

I am very curious what is your motivation to move from an almost new 4Runner to this 200 series rig? Playing devil's advocate, you could potentially get 20 more trouble free years out of your 4R. Curious minds want to know. The 4R is pretty much as capable off the pavement as the 200.

My wife has a 2017 TRD off road premium 4Runner and I have a modified 2013 200 series. The difference between the two is more than even I thought was possible. I think anyone that has driven both, especially if you upgrade the 200s suspension, will never want to drive a 4Runner again IMO

I made the move from a 4Runner LTD to the 200. Not even close!

Care to provide some additional details on the differences between the two? And how did you modify your 200? The LC obviously does not have the LX suspension (AHC, etc) so i am curious what did you modify.

Yeah, that’s what sold me, I really liked the way the LC drove and the comfort of the interior. I also needed a third row, which I couldn’t find in the 4R, when I bought it.

I’d love to have a TRD Pro, but no third row in that, either.

I'd look at getting a SW truck if a road trip is possible..... well worth the drive and extra effort if it's a long term hold. And agree with the others that while there is great support for the 4R platofrm in the aftermarket and it's a nice size, the power options are minimal and the LC is just in a different league, with a bit of tuning even moreso.

happy to check out TX trucks if you find any here.... I'm in Dallas, Houston and Austin almost weekly now...

This random visit to the 200 forum just cost me some change. Thought I was content with the Trail 4R but reading the posts here convinced me to make the upgrade. Climbing in / out over lifted rig with sliders as a daily driver gets a little old. Son wants to buy the 4R so Dad gets 200 to drive to the Toyota Dealership to buy FJ60 parts. Everyone's happy.

Assuming any 2013 to 2015 model year will have all the desired bells such as lockers and suspension options or do you need to pay attentions to different packages?

Lockers are not available.

Not much in the way of packages. They come loaded.

the 2013 and on provide cooled seats.... and perhaps the cooler box - one of my fav features. Non will have lockers OEM in the states.. but suspension and lockers are avail aftermarket as are myriad other ways to spend money on parts....

best way to confirm the 4R vs. LC thought is drive both back to back....

happy hunting !
