This was registered last time in 1989 in Switzerland so back then it was in very good shape (we don't let junk on the road like most places).

Paid SFr. 200, or $200 dollars based only on the Photos. Was up for 20 minutes on the Swiss auction site before I snatched it. Going to check it out tomorrow and pay and pick up the papers and do a closer inspection and get some photos.

Looks like the tailgate has been cut for drop-down, and the lights aren't stock - but from the looks of the photos, I'd say SCORE!

SCORE!

It seems people have so much luck finding these trailers... garage sales, barns, etc.... some guys seem to pick them right from a tree.

Great score! Only stuff around me is rusted through and through and $1000.00

went and paid and got the title - last time it was cleared for road usage was 1998 so that's a good sign.

  • has minor rust on front lower seam and on the fabbed removable tail gate where they welded a piece of strap for stability. other than that it's really good with regards to rust.
  • the frame is very solid with 0 rust
  • they blasted and rust primered and thick grey coated it 15 years back.
  • bed has some kind of texture and no rust.
  • sides are not dented but bottom has some dents but nothing severe. the brakes are modified to be overrun brakes which I'll remove.
  • original data plate is gone.
  • shock mounts are there - Willys style with non-threaded post and hole for cotter pin - no shocks
.

plans are

  • remove overrun brakes and get hand brake working again (frozen)
  • get decent tires and sometime 6-bolt hubs to match the 40
  • general maintenance on hubs and brakes
  • put a hard top on it with a pop-up tent on top of that
  • remove rust and paint it some special color (freeborn red like the 40?)
  • get ready to travel
:D

no luck, skill

Not luck - I lurk the Swiss auction site and check trailers daily and this was posted 20 minutes before I saw it and paid.

I guess the price was luck - the PO was a bit of a bake-head and inherited it from his dad and really didn't know what he had.

Got it tucked away and will be polishing it up and fixing the lights, brakes, shocks, etc. over the next few years.

No hurry - got a 40 to fix too and a 3 year old and a wife who's 8 months pregnant.

I'll take the triangle reflectors if you don't want them. They're off a CDN m101 rather than a Bantam trailer.
