I talked to the guy's at Longfield: Longfield Superaxles

They have offered us a group discount if we have 5 or more people buying axle sets. The discount is $25 off the listed price.

I am working to negotiate a discount on hub gears as well.

If you're interested let me know!

what is that, about a 4% discount?

I guess they arent hurting for business...

No kidding!

Whatever the case im in. 60 series set and some hub gears please.

I'm down for another set of 60 series axles and hub gears. Get em' to throw in some t-shirts, decals or something! Toshi knows how to grind em'!

ask morgan about longfields he's not their biggest fan.

yeah, but that was in an 80....:flipoff2:

the added weight of the the espresso machine and tanning bed is murder on parts.

Isn't it the full time thing that got him? I believe the cromo joints have a short mileage life span.

Yep, that'd do it. ( I wasn't being entirely serious about the tanning bed...)

I had my own experience with the uber gayness of full time spinny parts, during my one blissfully comfortable and shockingly expensive month of 80 ownership, and I'll take the inconvenience of having to lock the hubs any day...

Yep, full time 4 wheel is ubber gay and I have heard the same about short life span on chromos in 80s.

Surprisingly, the original birfs in 80s with original sized tires will last 300miles worth of grocery gettin..

Rob

looks like the longfields have come down in price... by a couple hundred..
they are cheaper than the dirty 30s for FJ40s... you should see if west shore spring an offroad can get them ... might be away to avoid shipping... talk to Bart :D

Hey, be nice! I go to Home Hardware and Rona too! :meh:

Do the dirty 30's have the same issue with short mileage lifespan as the longfields seem to?

Anyone have any input as to mileage longevity on the dirty 30's vs longfields?

Your truck is a 70 series isn't it? do you have lockout hubs?

if so, the birfs don't really get many miles at all,(unless you leave the hubs locked all the time)

So it's not like an 80 where there is constant wear, those big pretty things are kindof a special case...:p

My truck definitely has unlock-able hubs albeit I think they are electronically operated . Still haven't read much consensus on which product is better.. Both have decent warranties and both seem to work great and also not so great for a lot of people. All I know for sure is that damn near anything is better than stock.

the problem with longs and the 80 series cruisers is (and if im mistaken please feel free to chime in here) that they are heat treated softer than the stock birfs...this gives them greater ability to withstand impacts and shock loads without shearing or shattering, if will flex where others are rigid and want to break....unforunatly for the grocery getting 80 series trucks this also means they will wear exceptionally quickly due to the full time 4wd...maybe something that should have been looked into while buying for a mall crawler 80 with the espresso machine...right tool for the right job

you should get the hub spacer adaptors and put some aisin manual hubs on there.
