So I have always creeped on this forum to be jealous of all of the cruisers, and to try to find parts that will work with my firstgen 4runner.

Well, I talked my fiance into getting a cruiser of our own, on the condition that it be newer. I cant afford a NEW one, and she did not like the 80s so we got a 100, and we love it.

We were looking at a white one in texas, and the houston members of the forum were great to help us out and steer us in the right direction. We had Javiers in houston do a PPI and we flew down to pick her up!

Heres some photos!

The Previous owner removed the roof rack and the wind diffuser thing on the rear (thankfully he left the bolts) so we are working on finding and installing those back onto it.

The only caveat is that The PO also removed the factory trailer hitch reciever, And also the bracket that it connects to... So my rear bumper is ghetto rigged to the truck and just kind of dangles on there.

Was hoping to get some info from yall on how to fix this, I believe there should be some kind of cross bar that connects to the frame, then the hitch reciever connects to this and then the bumper cover goes on last?

I need to source a OEM hitch and the missing braket i suppose. Here are some photos from what i have so far. I can take more after work. Keep in mind, the bumper hangs way low and you can shake it around with your hand. In the photo above you can also see how low it sits..

The other question I have is that the headlights look like there is 3 spots for bulbs. The normal headlight bulbs are the inside bulbs closest to the grille, then there is another spot toward the outside of the truck (i am missing bulbs here), then the blinkers on the fender part of the headlight assembly. I am missing bulbs in the middle position and was just wondering what they are for, and what type of bulbs they are?

Thanks for reading my post!

Welcome! Great looking truck.... Except for the rear bumper :)

Thank you! I figured since all of the maintenance was done (Timing belt, WP, Serp Belt) messing with the bumper to get it to fit right wouldnt be such a big deal. Also the Seller, who was an amazing guy, paid to have the wheel bearings replaced at Javiers right before I bought it.

Welcome, from Knox-Vegas!!

Welcome and congrats on your rig!

that wind deflector and roof rack is no big deal. In fact, I'd tell you to throw up an aftermarket rack and not bother.

I didnt even think of that, well I might be able to find one for a decent price, a lot of the stuff out there is outrageously expensive.

The wind deflactor I might replace. Might. But there has gotta be used rack somewhere. Once you see how pointless the plastic of the factory rack is, you might decide to at least hold off on replacing it. ANY rack is an improvement.

Congrats, you're engaged and the Toyota's had a shotgun wedding:cool:

Welcome and congrats. Looks like the one from FB?

Yes Sir, Its the same one

Does the wind deflector even do anything worth finding one? I forget the name of the company, but i saw a roof rack that you started with a base price for just the flat part, then you add the surrounding parts you like then add the attachment points. It said the rack was supposed to be able to be used on 60, 80, and 100 series cruisers and looked pretty nice!

Haha pretty much. Old and new. Now the 4runner can really see some trails

Congrats on the purchase, real nice color choice though I may be biased. I am out in Colorado but I do have a factory hitch that is looking for a new home, I took it off when I installed my Slee rear bumper... Not sure if any guys from HIH would be heading back your way and have room to take it with.

Youre pretty spot on with the color choice... the color I got and white are my favorite. I would LOVE to take that factory hitch off your hands. What is HIH? im kinda new here, not fully caught on the acronyms yet. lol.

About the hitch, My bumper doesnt have the hole with the removable cover in it. Did yours? Ive seen some with that style hitch, and others with a different hitch as well. Which did yours have?

Just sent you a PM

IMO, No.

HIH is 100s In The Hills, it is a 100 series gathering in the mountains around Silverton and Ouray CO (there is a thread on Mud about it). I know there are some guys driving over from the southeast but I don't know if anyone would have room.

Mine is the stock external hitch that mounts to the bottom of the frame and does not use the hole in rear bumper area.

If you ever get on a dirt road, which surely you will, you will realize very quickly how useful the wind deflector really is. I would always rather have one than not.
