Is your cruiser the 66' project? I have a 71 with Man a Fre rollbars and I bought some jump seats, the longs ones and put them in without a problem. I will send pics if I can find some or I'll just go take some. I got a kit from SOR that has little C brackets for extensions to help bolt it down but haven't used them yet, or figured out where they would go...no directions came with them. I have the bottom part of the frames bolted down but not the backs yet. Where you thinking of buying some?

Yes, it is the '66 I have.

Either buying or making a set for them...I was hoping to finish the welding to the b and c pillar section this weekend and see how to attach the seats after. I'd like to figure it out quickly as I have the floor track tie downs to install on the wheel well vertical side to do. I've done the front to rear sections already. Also, I have plans in my heads for a set of aluminum storage boxes to possibly go under the seats. I'd like to see if it would fit and make sense.

Long Jump Seats

I've seen the seats installed in a cruiser without a rollbar but not with one. Does anybody have any experience with modifying one to make fit? Curious as to what you did...pics would be great.

Thanks,

Ok, here are some pics...there are 3 points of contact on the bottom but none on the back...so that's why I didn't fasten the back I guess. The passenger side has an issue with the one leg not reaching the wheel well so I thought maybe the bracket would go there but its not that big of a gap. Then I thought I was suppose to use the bracket to attach the back of the seat to the tub because there is a hole on the tub in the right location but no hole in the tube of the seat frame. Also look at the angle of the frame compared to the roll bars, it is bent out away from the tub to allow the for the roll bars, but I don't know if the PO of the seats bent them like that to make them fit in his fj40 or if they come that way. The PO said his came out of a 71' with roll bars...even sent me a pic. I noticed this in the pic (circled in Red) an attachment point to the tub but I dont have that part and my tub don't have the little clips to accept the part either...so don't know. Hope any or all of this helps. My next move is to install seat belts for the back but don't know the best place to mount them...anybody have any ideas?

One thing comes to mind with your idea is if the seats are up any higher then the passenger back there would have his head up above the roll bars. Here is a quick sketch of what I am hoping to do. Attach some angle iron to the bottom of each seat where the rubber bumpers go which would strengthen the seat, plus when the seats are up the lip of the angle Iron would provide an edge where I could slide in a pre cut piece of plywood that would make a shelf where I could place totes under it and have the storage on top as well. What do you think?
