I would like to try I44 to 71/540 down through fayetteville to Ft Smith. Then 59 to 259 down down across I30 to 155 and on into Gilmer Tx.

This will also shorten the trip for those coming out of KC

Sounds great Thad, I can meet you guys in Bentonville, or as you fly by Joplin. Just let me know what time, and I'll plan on it. If you don't mind, pm me your cell so I've got a way to check in.

I can even be in Bentonville by 10am if you guys really get after it :D Looks like it will take a good 7 hours just from there.

Thanks, Jason

Anyone bringing a big arse coffee pot? I needs me some coffee in the mornins. If not, I got a 12 cupper for christmas and I'll throw it in the truck, I got one of them FJ's with the inverter built in, so we could make margaritas as well. I'll throw the blender in too.

glad to see some of you guys not pussin out on camping.. seems like most of the TX crew have reserved hotel rooms:bang: i'm camping regarless of the weather and looking forward to it! this is my first Jamboree and can't wait to meet you guys!

If it starts getting cold, the fire isn't big enough...add more trees.

lolo62,

we will be camping in what I believe is called Old Camp on the park map. We will have a huge MSR tent about 20' X30'. This camp is down in the valley so if it is cold you don't have any wind.

lolo62,

The people that are in Springfield can meet at Bass Pro then swing off I44 at Hoods and meet Jim, or just radio him as we get close and he can merge with us.

Hoods will be great to meet. I do not have a radio in my tow truck so will have to call on my cell.

My trailer is a 28' black enclosed gooseneck with Arctic Cat decals on the side. We have living area inside the trailer, will I have room to park it where we are planning on camping?

Jim,

You won't be able to get you trailer into camp, it is real rough. There is a spot were we drop our trailers maybe 300 yards up the hill from camp.

We are planning on staying in the trailer. Is there a place close we can park it? I have a generator so electric is not an issue. (although electric would be nice)

Jim,

This park is different than most parks. When you come in there is a big pavilion where all of the meals and the auction will take place. Its on top the highest and most open spot there is. Another 1/4 mile down the way is an area where campers and 5th wheels usually park to camp. There will be several other rigs camped there. I think it has electic hook ups but not sure. Then you have trails that run all over the park. Some of them are rough. Sprinkled throughout the park are camp sites. Some require 4 wheel drive just to get to. We are going to be staying in one of the lower ones call by several names but know by most as Old Camp or Lonestar Landcruiser camp. This is about a 10 min drive back up to the main pavilion.

My suggestion to you would be to park at the trailer campground. Its very close to where the band and the auction and all of the meals will be. After the dinner parties at the pavilion are over you can come on down and hang out with us as much as you can take. We will also make a trip around the park at night to check out other campground parties. It becomes a real traveling party.

We will be up at the pavilion Friday and Saturday night along with several times during the day. That is the central meeting place. It is also near the showers and bathrooms.

Give me a call if you have any other questions.

Here is a map of the place. We are staying in Lone star camp or jeep eater camp. Also know as old camp. You can see how the camps are spread out.

If for some reason lonestar is too full we can always move to JNT camp. No one used it last year, its large with lots of fire pits and a small pavilion.

How about the Hoods truck stop?

I was also thinking Hoods truck stop. Its on I44 around mile marker 60. Its one more exit east of the republic exit jim is talking about. I will look tomorrow and see what number it is.

Just an FYI guys, JNT camp is open, but has been set aside as a "family friendly" camp. We had a lot of requests for a more 'subdued' camp with quiet hours, so that is the one. There should be plenty of room at Old Camp, although be advised that because of the issues witht he entrance, the honey truck can't get down there anymore, so porta-potties are up at the top of the hill.

Please plan appropriately for "expedition-style" camping, where everyone is responsible for safe disposal of waste (latrines don't cut it). Pett systems or another form of environmentally responsible disposal is required.

For those with ladies or children that require special needs, the best area may be the RV area- it has the added bonus of electricity if you desire to bring a heating device.

Don't forget to print or have your pre-registration number. I do not think you will be able to get in the gate with out it. Also may need to have your receipt of being paid.
