Now that the gates are opening earlier on thursday we are thinks about moving out a few hours earlier. Would like to get there to set up camp with some daylight. Would like to try and get out of town around 10 if thats possible. We also need a meeting place.

Have we decided which way we are going yet? Hwy65 or Hwy71.

I would like to try I44 to 71/540 down through fayetteville to Ft Smith. Then 59 to 259 down down across I30 to 155 and on into Gilmer Tx.

Two fold on the reasons. One is the roads all the way past FT. SMith are very nice 4 lane and its shorter distance than back tracking to little rock. It much better than 69 in oklahoma as those are very rough.

2nd I need to drop off some parts in the Bentonville area so it will save me money on shipping cost.

If they are bad we can go home a different way.

This will also shorten the trip for those coming out of KC

Its a wash on miles for those in Springfield. If you use springfield as a start point "as in city center" its

435 via ft smith
444 via little rock

If you use 65804 as a start its
441 via ft smith
435 via little rock.

It will be shorter for those from kc and iowa that will meet up with is as its 45 shorter going kc to joplin than kc to springfield.

travel path

If any of you folks are gonna' go down thru little rock, send a message. I'll be coming outta' Jonesboro, AR and will be in LR around 12:00 - 12:30 on Thursday.
I'm looking at the routes and I guess I'm too much of an interstate guy. That 59/259 or even 71 route looks like a lot of curves n hills (or mountains?) . . . Ok, I know, scenic route has more character, but I'm thinking camp b4 dark.
Either way, if ur coming through LR, shoot a PM here or on ttora.

Our run from Harrison to Conway is 2 lane hills and curves. We dont have a 4 lane option. 44 to 71/540 all the way past fort smith is 4 lane. The last hundred or so down to 30 is 2 lane. If we go through little rock then we have to take 2 lane from harrison to conway. Its there one way or another. We did the little rock way last year and will try something new. If its bad we will come back that way.

See you there Old Truck.

Kool, I'll be headed to Xterra camp

I will be leaving out of Willard, if we are going down 44 it would be quicker for me to meet you somewhere on down the road. Like Republic exit (I think it is M hwy) or somewhere around there

Sounds good Jim. We will pick a spot as it gets closer. Needs to be easy in/out for trailers.

9:30 AM Bass Pro Shops parking lot... ???

How about the Hoods truck stop?

The people that are in Springfield can meet at Bass Pro then swing off I44 at Hoods and meet Jim, or just radio him as we get close and he can merge with us.

Art, are you bringing the tear drop trailer?

Don't forget the Tanktops and T backs.
