Trying to find out how to lock doors with motor running. Leaving the dog inside and have the AC running is my reason. I see it all the time with other autos but not Toyota. 90 plus degrees in Florida every day. My FJ Cruiser I need to use key on outside to lock. Bought a Land Cruiser Wind Chill Pearl.

I haven't tried that key. Thanks, this new Land Cruiser has no vin numbers etched in the glass like all the others did. Even my FJ has etching in the glass.

I checked, remote start works.

Press the lock button twice then hold the lock button. This will start the LC and have the doors locked.

Another method that's more complicated but easier on the fingers if your key is as hard to get out its fob as mine is:

1) Open the driver's window.
2) Get out of the truck.
3) Manually push down the door lock knob from the outside.
4) Reach inside and flick up the window switch to auto-close the window.
5) Pull your hand out quickly, before the window closes on it.

Your truck will be locked with the engine still running.

Etching of VINs is specific to SouthEast Toyota Distributors (Moran Family) out of Winter Park. They control Toyota sales in the SE of the US and is something very specific to their SOP.

I can start the vehicle with my phone app but not do the same with my fob. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. There’s a video about holding the lock button on the third press.!

I maybe wrong but don't think remote start is enabled in the fob...only the app.

Remote start works with fob only on my 1958.

That is correct but my can't I use the fob to do the same thing. Lock doors start motor.? I saw a video with the fob being used. I must have something turned off. My first FJ 40 in 1976 didn't have all these electronics.:)

I just tested the three button press on my LC and it worked. Confirmed doors were locked as well.

Any of the remote start procedures is only gonna cause the vehicle to run for 10 minutes and then it will shut down. The only reliable way is to start the vehicle, power off any unnecessary things like headlights, air, conditioners, stereos, and then get out of the car and lock it with the key. In this manner, it could run for ever off the battery and only start up as needed to charge the battery. using the 2400 inverter, you could power a refrigerator and other items in the back. You could also power things in your house during a power outage, using an extension cord out the back.

For more information I refer you to that thing called the Manual that no one ever reads

The most important person on every forum is that one guy who reads the manual. I am not that guy.

Anyone use the inverter for multiple continuous hours with load to confirm this expected behavior taught her by Trips using his fancy readin' skills?

If you don’t read manuals, save the manual in pdf form and when you open it up in whichever pdf reader you use, you can use the search feature.searching for a single word or multiple will pull up a list of all the places in the manual with word you just searched for and you can quickly go to each section in the manual. It will be faster than typing up a question here and waiting for responses.

Here is a YouTube video from an Overlander that is using the inverter and doing some testing.
