Locked shifter in park

Hello

Today without any notice i stopped my car to throw my garbage came in and shifter would release from park.

Turn off / on engine but still
Same.
Had to use the emergency shifter release button to get car out of park and get home.

One thing happened this morning the ABS light and stability control came on i do not think it is related to shift lock issue.

FJ is a 2009 and has been pretty reliable.

Hi Guys

Can anyone help on this issue of stuck gear shifter in park..

Turned it on this morning still stuck with ABS and VSC on.

Is it a common issue with Cruisers ?

Happend to me on my wife's car a few years back, not a toyota but ended up a blown fuse under the hood. So you may want to check all fuses, more than likely has to do with the brakes. The shift lock is when you press the brake to release the shifter. VSC uses brakes also.

Solved ended up being brake light switch above brake pedal. Bought the part for 20 box and did it myself.
