As I mentioned in the general 80 Forum, before I market this vehicle locally, I wanted to give the members here a first shot at this truck since I know you guys will appreciate this vehicle for what it is and will hopefully keep it in top condition.
My truck bed needs and mileage uses working for a national development/construction company simply outweigh my desire to keep this land cruiser as my primary vehicle. Below is a brief history:
-1995 FJ-80, Locked, 4wd, 285 Duellers, KC lights, Yakima rack with basket and 2 bike trays, pwr everything, ac works great, factory CD player, sunroof.
-Items added since last year: Front calipers,rotors,OEM pads on front and rear,Yakima rack with trays and basket,OEM air and oil filters.
-Located in Birmingham, AL. Was purchased in Lagrange, GA last summer where according to Carfax it was a southern GA truck since it was first purchased.
-It was the best one I saw both mechanically and cosmetically but after I purchased it I found a rigged brake job that eventually required about $1500 in work for new calipers, rotors, and pads. I am certain the PO new of the problem and was not truthful about his representations but regardless, it is fixed now and I will not be as trusting to un-known sellers in the future.
-The wood grain was in terrible shape as with most of these I have seen so I removed all of it by hand and now the interior looks great as a result with black trim on the taupe interior color.
-Everything electrical in perfect working order and the only 2 mechanical issues that I know of are an O2 sensor that will soon need replacing and two small gasket leaks that requires about 1 quart every 1000 miles. These were Valve cover and throttle body gaskets. The truck runs fine now so my mechanic said it was really no issue to wait on fixing either so I was given a written estimate for $600 to fix both.
