whats a better unit for a 82 fj60 the lock right from powertrax or the aussie locker or does it matter ? they are priced within a few $ of each other

6 of one 1/2 dozen of the other

For what its worth I think Lockright developed the lunchbox locker and the aussie/detroit Ezi-locker are copies.

Have look at the Lockright Powertrax I think for the extra bucks its worh it as it doesn't lock and unlock as savagly which makes it more tractable on the road or that should read carparks.

I have the lockright in min only because I can buy it cheaper on the net from the US than the aussie in Aus (U work that one out )

It works great off road but its a dog in the carparks but u get used to it and learn haw to drive it.

Whichever one u choose if its offroad traction you want you wont be dissapointed for the price.

If you can afford the air locker go the ARb or the new TJM Prolocker (A liscence of the Macnamara locker)

hey thanks for your help i will check out the air locker i was under the empression it dosen't work in a 82

I have a Lockright in the rear of my 60. It doenst clunk or bang as much as people tell you they do. I have had it in there since August or so. Love it. It only gets noisy in parking lots or if I mess making a turn and get in and out of the gas.
Do a search, tons of discussions.

more info please!!! :)

sweet glad to see someone else is out there still working on items for us!! I am interested in price as well.

We have a TJM bumper on our 4runner and I love it. Like the styling better than ARB. Just wish that they were avail for 60 series here in the US.

Anyone know what the jobber ? price on an ARB is? There was a guy on pirate selling a 25% off coupon that was off of jobber prices? But he couldnt produce a jobber price list. Seemed wierd.

IN a ARB locker .. about 400 USD .. I need to check with some spy document that I have ...

So How much is that one?

I run a LockRite in my FJ40. I almost thought I installed it wrong after reading all the posts about it banging and clunking. Mine will only bang when I am turning really tight while on the gas. It works great offroad, and is barely noticeable onroad. I have been running mine for 4 years and have had no problems, even with putting 300 HP to it. I think either LockRite or Aussie would be a great locker for the 60.

I had an aussie locker in my 40 series and that thing was great. Only mad nosies when turning sharp corners in a parking lot. Never had any problems with it. Great deal for the price.

Dont get me wrong I love the lockrite.
Its only when I am pulling into the local shopping centre carpark that I dislike it (Never hate it!! ) But every time I hit the dirt I think there is a BIG smile all over my face.

Would love to try one up front but am concerned about the steering.
I have heard that they make them difficult to turn in tight situations.
Will probably put a LSD centre up the front.

But bang for buck its hard to beat the "Lunchbox" lockers.

I've had a Lock rite in the rear of my 40 for about 5 yrs now with no issues. Am currently planning on putting an Aussie in the reat of my 62 just because of the good things I heard about them.
