Need a spot that I can get various little bushings, pads etc.
For example...Im getting the rad. set up on my rig...Its aluminum and I want a little cushion around it....strips of 1/4 in rubber would be IDEAL. Another...a bumper (of sorts) to go on to my rear swing out. Yet another...I have to build my own rear body mount and I need a rubber PUCK of sorts to use as a body mount.
Is there any place locally that has anything like this. If not local...anyplace ON LINE that anyone has used? Rusty Dan told me of one place, but I forgot the name.

THIS crap is the BIGGEST PITA about building!
The little odds and ends that take FOREVER to track down.

Thanks in advance.

Also, I don't know if Tripp Plastics still has a retail outlet, but if they do you could probably find teflon or similar for your swingout bumper.

McMaster Carr Do not forget... They have flippin EVERYTHING!

The shipping is very reasonable and you can get exactly what you want.
I almost use them exclusively when fabbing something.

Maybe start here : McMaster-Carr

Polyurethane rubber is the direction I would head.

Sheesh..
The really do have just about EVERYTHING!
That is EXACTLY what I need except a local source would be just one step better.

That would be the ones stop shop for on line option.

Thanks Ken!

Yes they do...just down from R&E Fasteners on Rock Blvd. Another one of my haunts :)

Rubber products?
That is gonna be the biggest thing that Ill be looking for.

California Industrial Rubber on Glendale, just east of McCarren. Ask to look at their remnant pile.

I have a short roll of rubber conveyor belt I got there from their remnant pile, your welcome to as much of it as you would like. I think you picked up a while back.

Cool.
I tried that tripp plastics and they referred me to the place that you mentioned. Had a vague direction..."on Glendale" but I wasnt sure where. Drove down to McCarran but that is as far as I went.
Ill have to hit it either Thurs. or Fri. so I can mess with it this weekend.

Shulda ordered from Mcmaster it would have been installed all ready.

The KEY, SIR, was to find a place LOCALLY.
I may have a 40 NOW, but Im still a 60 series guy at heart. Dont wanna wait for parts to ship, if I can make it myself I will...One step up from a mini truck guy!!!:D:flipoff2:

NNNNNNICE!
Ive got Friday off. If its not to busy at the surgery center then maybe Thurs. as well.

FYI...I went to that california industrial rubber today. What NICE FAWKING GUYZ working there.
Picked up some scrap 1/2 in, 1/4 in and 3/16 in and also some bonding cement (not sure if that is gonna work yet or not).
Id recommend them for flat, sheet, rubber products. Very nice to deal with.
Im still probably gonna have to go through McMaster carr for some stuff.

X2, back when I did the 80 rebuild I went in there for some silicone heater hose for the pesky heater hose. He pulled about a foot of the right stuff out of the scrap pile and told me thanks for stopping by.

Great guys and they have earned my business for sure.

BTW...TOTALLY SCRAPPED my original plan for the rad. mount.
Using a 19x 24 in rad. proved to be too wide when you add in the rubber sleeves to the dimensions. Started a new approach today.

Wasted 2 days muckin around....sort of...I got my rear bumper and swingout basically DONE in the mean time while waiting for cement and epoxy to cure.

use some old inter tubes, some heavy duty truck tubes are thick

that is a pretty good idea!:hmm:
Might do that for the wrap around supports if the bed liner refuses to hold up.

Thanks for the tip.

The problem that Im running into is affixing the rubber to the steel on vertical surfaces. Nothing wants to stick. EspressoDan gave me some epoxy that was promising, but still pretty much failed after a night of curing....might have just been operator error though. Might not have spread it or mixed it well enough.
