Once again I expose my ignorance and call on the helpful support of my betters...

I'm looking at hauling my canoe (Colman Scanoe ~80lbs) on the roof.

I just want load bars (and towers?) that I can put on and off easily without scuffing the paint.

Do people put some rubber between the towers and the rain gutter like a cut of inner tube?

Will the bars that I see on commercial vans attach to an 80?

Should I consider the type that mount to either the port installed rails or the tracks for their lightweight load bars?

I have no plans to mount a serious rack system or put anything heavier up there.

Any advice appreciated!

Just use Plasti-Dip. The stuff in the pop-top can not the spray. Dip the bottom of the towers in the Dip like 3 or 4 times. All thats needed and it will last forever and easier than an inner tube.

Yakima towers already have rubber on them, but whatever you do, there will always be a little scuffing due to the road dirt that gets trapped underneath.
