I had a rear brake issue, pulling to the right under low speed hard braking, HOT right rear brake, and shi**y braking overall. Decided to buy new rear rotors and pads and pull her apart today.

Both calipers siezed (one piston almost welded) Pads were 1/16th" from new, one right side caliper slide bolt seized and dry(no grease)
Left side was okay besides seized caliper, right side was poor. seals looked fine too...
The piston was seized so bad it wouldnt even push back in on a table vise.
So called lordco, and gave them napa numbers(I get a discount at lordco ;) )
Guy says it comes up as a brake pad(s).
So i recall someone said 80 series calipers fit.
So, I dont know if everyone's aware or not, but I believe 1993 80 series rear binders are the same as 91 lj78. Toyota DIY doesnt list a # for the caliper just the parts to rebuild. I told the parts guy to go through until 4 wheel discs came up on a NA spec landcruiser. (1993)
Hope this helps another brother out in the future. I know the NAPA numbers are here somewhere. Ill post up all my rotor, pad and caliper numbers from Lordco tommorow when I get the calipers.
CHEERS!!

CHEERS!!

Awesome, thanks! I look forward to the Lordco part numbers.

Sorry guys, bit of a delay.

Dont forget to bring your cores in!!
they charge almost as much as the new part!
Tommorow first thing!
I discovered the calipers come with the bracket as well not just the caliper itself. and to confirm, 1993 80 series calipers are the same. I saw them today, they come with all new parts too, slide bolts, seal washers, and brake line banjo bolt. i thought that was pretty sick.
cheers!

So parts as follows:

Rear calipers: 077-0993S & 077-0994S not sure which is L &R
Premium rear rotors: 31294
Premium semi-metallic pads (wagner): MX606
Again these are LORDCO part numbers for those that live in bc.

Also front wheel bearings are the same as 1988 toyota pickup fronts. i assume the dust seal on back of rotor is the same.
Anyone know what the rear axle bearings are? Skf, federal, or koyo? Cross reference vehicle?
I have to seriously start a book with all the replacement parts on my truck, im starting to lose track.....

Cheers all

Front Caliper Part #'s?

Anyone want to chime in with front caliper part numbers? Are the front calipers interchangeable between a 60,7x,or an 80 series? Or maybe trucks only with high pinion? years?
I was thinking i might as well get all new brakes, as long as im throwing money away.......

I was also thinking of doing a manual hub conversion. I have a thin metal plate in between the outer cover and the hub body, that serves as a capture for the small bolt that turns the gear from the out side. similar to old blues conversion, but not as nice. dunno if im playing with fire with this setup, so i want everything a little more.......hmmm.. engineered? haha

Hub spindle conversion or Radd cruisers adapters? price difference?

cheers all

The 80 series rear caliper bracket is slightly different and may need clearancing. The rotors for the 80 series are totally different than the 70 series.

The front wheel bearing seal is the same as earlier Land Cruisers (60, 70 series).

The rear wheel bearings are Japan-only and very expensive. DO NOT remove the parts if you do not have to.

Front calipers are similar year 4Runner 4WD.

Front wheel bearings are the same for just about all Land Cruisers.

We keep all this stuff in stock for when you decide to work with a BC company instead of our neighbors in Alberta.

The hub spacer conversion is very simple and saves sourcing a lot of parts.... call if you want details.

Hey John,

To clarify, i held the new and old calipers side by side and they are exactly the same. 1993 us cruiser is same a 1991 lj78. No difference. Bracket and all. This is for rea calipers. and it seems front calipers from quite a few toyotas are the same across the board yes.

The calipers are the same, but some of the brackets need to be ground at bit... they have more thickness in the web that is closest to the drum part of the rotor. This has not been the case with all of them, just some of them.

Likely there are some 70 series units in the rebuild mix by now.
