2 1991 lj78 fuel injection pumps. Both remanufactured with low hrs. The one without resistors has about 2k miles the one with resistors has about 200miles. The newer one also has a new timer and spill valve. They are both good running pumps but after my third try at getting a pump that would cold start properly I decided it was the cpu and old brittle wiring causing the problems and switched to a 3L mechanical pump. $800 for the newer one $400 for the more used one.

Interested. I have a problem with my pump. It would not start, and no diesel is getting to the injectors. My pump looks the same I beleive. I have a 1991 LJ78 with a 2LTE build in may 1991. Top one with resisters? does it have new solenoids and sensors? Which one is the new one? Is it the one with resisters, in front of the Gold Filter or one in front of the brush? we can chat if you have time. Thank you

The one with resistors is the newer one. It has only a few hundred miles on it. It has a new timing solenoid and spill valve. The resistors are not new.

Thanks for the quick response. you used both of them (even old is still very new), but How do you know if they work well? It seems your problem was not resolved? Just curious. Also, is the price firm. I am in Denver, (80126). thank you.

Yes both pumps work good. The trouble I was having was with cold starting. I could never get the Timing and fueling set to make a clean cold start. I ended up buying a NEW. 3L non electronic pump. Even with that I still had to tinker quite a bit to get a good clean cold start. I also had to rig a manual glow plug relay switch to keep the glow plus on low glow while the engine warmed up. With the manual glow plug switch I have been able to make the E-pump work. I am happy with the mechanical
An am not going to switch back.
Do you know why your pump stopped working?

Thanks for the info. To get an easy first start for the day, I always had to over-advance the engine by turning the pump up (clockwise if looking at the engine from the driver's seat). But on idle, the check engine light came on... the cruiser ran great though. For my annual emissions test, I drive a few miles to heat up the engine, then set the timing back to the middle (OE marking) so I can pass the test (not with a check engine like at idle). So I did that in December 2023, after I passed the test, I changed the timing... the engine started with no issues... Ran flawlessly for over a month. I tried to start the cruiser end of Jan/early Feb, but I never could. crank, no start. not even a close-start. It was garaged for months, then a week ago, I looked at it. Ordered a new set of glows but have not installed them. replaced the diesel filter. There is diesel in the tank and supply line... loosened an injector line...no fuel gets there when the engine is cranked. fuses were checked. Checked the power going into the spill-valve solenoid. zero as expected, but when the ignition is the ON position, I get 0.1V. I directly connected 12V to the Solenoid, I hear it clicking. It seems the solenoid is working, but I am not sure if 0.1V is normal when the ignition is the on position. I didn't check the voltage when I cranked the motor. while trying to mess with the pump, while attempting to loosen the pump-to-filter line, I broke it. I ordered part# 23811-54191...When it gets in, I will install it. I will also replace the glows... I am stuck... thank for the help..

Do you still have the pumps available? Thanks

Yep still got it.
Which one is the better option? Which one worked well on your LC? It seems I have error code 5 and 12. The resisters and the timer sensor. Pricing? Shipping to zip code 80126. Thanks for the help. My phone is 720-233-4280 if you wish to chat or text. Thanks.
