On behalf of a friend of mine who got an lj70 with a tired 2L,

He is thinking of an engine swap, and is looking for a "bolt in" solution. What are the possibilities(Toyota) out there?. What do you gurus receomend?

Bolt in swaps would be...

Another 2LT or 2LTE (If it was a 2LT then a 2LT wuld be better due to not requiring an ECU).

1KZT - reasonably bolt in but quite a few modifications required.

3L - 2.8 Normally aspirated Diesel, could fit the 2LT head on it and make a 2.8TD - nice engine.

Anything apart from this is not a straight forward swap but you could look at a Supra 5M or 7M engine.

Also I think one of the bigger diesels should fit, not sure on the difference in engine bay length between the light duty and heavy duty 7X series as to whether a 1HZ or 1HDT would fit. You would need transmission, probably front suspension etc to make it work though.

Easiest would be 2L series or 3L.

Mithila, Sri Lanka is one beautiful country, I was there in 2000. Toured all the way up to Kandy. The elephant sanctuary, botanical gardens and more. 3 very nice full days.
I worked south of you in Male. Sri Lanka is a great place for a holiday.
How are the peace talks going? Any fighting still? I have many Sri lankan friends in both Canada and Sri Lanka.

Sorry for the hijack to this thread.

Sadly the peace process hit its lowest yesterday with the tiger suicide attack which almost took the life of the SL Army commander. :frown:

I hope things will improve and will not go further towards war.
