Well, I've been busy trying to learn what my job THIS season is.... Things are way different with the new contractor etc....

I'm still having fun though! I've almost seen the sun the last few days, it's been clear, but there's a small ridge of mountains just to the north of town that block it off pretty well.... I got out to the airfield a few nights ago to work a passenger movment for the C-17, and the ambient temp was -29, it was rad!!!!!! :D

Miss you all!!! Miss driving something that I can thrash on when I feel the need..... Hehehehee

Soooooo yesterday I had a few seconds of excitment.... Some of you might remember Ivan the Terra Bus from my last season down here... He's about 45 feet long, weights 68,000 lbs give or take, and holds 56 passengers. And looks like this:

Well yesterday I got to take him for a spin, albeit a short one... I pulled out of his parking spot, headed up the hill to pull around onto the main road, and about half way up the steep part of the hill he lost traction and slid backwards for about 80-90 feet.... His tires are lacking in the traction department, and his front wheels no longer drive so he's just rear wheel drive now....

Thankfully I did not hit anyone or anything, and just backed him right back down the hill into his parking spot, but some of my coworkers were a little shaken up (they were all onboard with me as it was a training).

So this morning my supervisor got to file a near miss report.... Hehehe Good times on the ice!!!! I'm happy to be back still!!!! :cheers:

WTGDB :flipoff2:

65,000 lbs? That's almost as much as an fj80!

:lol::lol:

Thanks Kief! I had a good time writting it! Todd K is going to send me some copies down here and I'll give a few to the Kiwi Base and some to some friends here.

In the mean time.... Here's what Detained in Antarctica looks like.... Not me, not my department.... These were some grantees (code for scientists) trying to back down to the loading dock at the science labratory... Photo by my roommate, thanks Travis! :cheers:

Hehehe, well there's some different vehicles that use different pressures, but across the board about 18 psi is standard.... Our new vans all have Staun Beadlocks, and we still use 18 PSI, which I consider a waste of some beadlocks personally....

Yeah it's Metric air pressure down here, cause it's all about international cooperation.... ;)

I live! I breath! I ICE!!!!!! It's windy down here today! :D

I've been busy playing ping pong, playing guitar with some ladies, and eating too much! :D I'm also in a weight loss challenge with a bunch of other people who are working out, and I am not! We'll see how that goes. Hehe I miss you guys, and I want to punch you all in the face for going to CTW without me! I haven't taken many pics lately, but I'll try to get some up soon....

Looks like Friday night poker and there's one broke dude headed home! :rolleyes:
