I'd like to get a set of the 240 Blitzs on the front of my 80 but I'm a little worried they are too big. Is it possible for them to actually restrict too much air flow?

I've seen maybe 2 vehicles with them mounted on the board.

-Can anyone post more pics of their rig or someone eleses with the 240s mounted? Different perspectives would be great.

Thanks!
Jeff

I was going to get a bumper, but I think I want a set of light to just mount to the stock bumper. I like the Hella 4000s, but they are a lot heavier than the
240s, plus I don't think they are as bright.

I've heard great things about the LF lights, but I don't think airflow is an issue frankly. Air is a low enough viscosity that it easily flows around things. As long as the literal grill opening is not actually sealed off to make its opening fewer square inches, I don't think its an issue.

Having said that, the 4000s will just barely fit on the stock bumper without touching the grille and they're a terrific light. I have 165,000 miles on a pair of their previous version - the 3000, and I have 70,000 miles on a pair of 4000s. In all this time I have never had an issue - flick the switch and the driving is less stressful in the dead of night.

Here they are on mine. Large yes, but oh the light:D
My vote is get the bumper first!

You might want to figure out your front bumper first. I'm re-designing mine and I got the Lightforce 170's. They are almost 2 large for my design and they look huge if you ask me. There is no way I would personally get the 240's, they're like dinner plates.

I've had 4-170's on the front of my 4runner, 2-240's mounted on my 4runner, and 4-240's mounted on my land cruiser. First off, lightforce lights are sick. Never had an issue with them, ever. While the 240's are large they put out a ton of light. I thought there was a decent difference between the 170's and 240's. The biggest difference is in the range. I also had them mounted up top and not on the front bumper. If you mount them up top do yourself a favor and put something anti reflective on the hood. The last picture shows the lights on and the picture doesn't do the lights justice.

Thanks for the input guys, and the pics are great.
I’d like to get 2 of them mounted on my stock bumper, somewhat centered kind of like a rally car. I’d really like a big light and nobody has anything bad to say about Light Force that I have read so I think that’s maybe the way to go.

Here are mine...I loke them a lot

I have a pair of Bosch Rallyes which appear to be (almost) the same diameter. If you are concerned with airflow, there are mounting tabs on the top of the ARB which allow for your lights. The downside is that they are well above your hoodline... On the other hand, if you are towing a heavy trailer for some distance, I would not obstruct the grille with lights. I'd rather not risk overheating the engine or tranny.

Cheers.

I've got two LF170's mounted on the stock bumper of my 81. They fit and look good and performance is quite wild actually! I think the best way of mounting them is making a small transition bracket to allow you to get as close to the grill as possible. I personally didn't do this because I didn't have time(maybe later). What I did was reverse the bottom part of the bracket to allow me to drill into the steel behind the bumper. So far, so good. Cheers, Tony

Jeff forgot to mention that you can use a JDM fog light socket to power your aux lighting, that way you have a nice tidy OEM switch on the dash. The only hardware needed is a generic bosch type relay, 20' of 12 guage or better wire and assorted crimp fittings. Cheers, Tony

i have them and i think they look too big. i wont go through the car wash for fear of them being ripped off they stick out so much... then i turn them on at night... SO MUCH LIGHT.
