So been searching, need an upgrade to my headlights as they barely throw their yellow glow enough to see a pothole 20 feet.....

A lot of folks like the Hella h4, has anyone tried any LEDs? Something like
H4 LED Light Bulbs 9004 High/Low, Lifetime warranty.

Id prefer LED if possible, if folks have some pointers it would be greatly appreciated while i search more.

I put some H4 LED globes in and they are amazing, total transformation.

They have been great so far and don't have a separate ballast so they are easy to fit, basic plug and play.

Had to section the rubber dust cap but worked out pretty tidy.
Have had them covered in mud and water and still going strong.

you can see the color difference here but the affect at night is outstanding.

According to their web site they can handle 9-32V and the prices range from $325.00 to $400.00.

I run those same lights on my BJ74. They are for sure directly plug and play, with a 5 minute maximum installation time. Nothing required to make them work with 24V.

The light is much brighter and whiter than stock. There is a weird X or W pattern that appears roughly at the center of the light pattern. Some can't stand it, complain that it is distracting. I have to admit it does get my attention more than it should, but so far I've been happy with that as a trade off for vastly improved lighting on the road.

Can we get a picture of what that looks like tonight?

Way to modern looking for the 70's styling in my opinion.
But each to there own.

Yeah, I know what you're saying. The visibility improvement was worth it for me. However, the OEM lights are still in my garage just in case I change my mind.

Here's a low beam pic where the "W" is pretty visible right at the center of the shot...although in this picture it looks more like a V V than a W.

...and here's a link to a short video on the darkest road I could find in the suburbs. Warning: 9.3MB video file.

HTH.

The VV pattern seems to disappear or at least get washed out when the brights are on. Here are some blurry iPhone pics through a dirty windshield to hopefully demonstrate that.

Since we both have FJ73, I am interested in these but don't see how you installed them in yours. I haven't attempted to change my original ones out at all yet.

They are just a replacment globe, you need non-sealed headlights, and they are straight swap for normal H4 globes,

Here they are.

just headlights.Very crisp and clean and much brighter than halogens.
