Light bar - Can I switch from highbeams to lowbeams?

Hi all,

I just installed a 24V LightForce wiring kit on my BJ74 for the stock lights on the stock lightbar. The lights work fine and dandy, but the instructions told me to tie into the highbeams wire. Thus, the lights only work when the highbeams are on. Am I able to remove the tie in to the higbeams and lay it into the low beams? The lights are yellow and they look like they would be fog lights, but running high beams with foglights defeats the purpose.

So, can I just tie into the lowbeam wire instead?

There is nothing stopping you doing that, however I would check with your local laws re extra lighting.
It might have to be setup to only use when in high beam so as not to dazzle on comming drivers when in low beam...
You could always have it on another secret switch....

fog and aux lights are only supposed to turn on when your headlights are on.
I have mine that i can turn them on when my lights are on low beam.
I can crank my fogs(aux) lights on high and low in either low beam or highbeam headlight modes.

I thought I would update everyone. I tied into the low beam circuit and it works just fine. AFAIK if the aux lights aren't xenon and have an etched glass/plastic cover they are ok. I have it set to low beams, but I can also toggle the lights on and off while I have my lowbeams on. The best of both worlds.

Initially, I only asked because there has been many a snowstorms I've driven through in Alberta where you can't see more than 5 feet in front of you. And, having fog lights wired into High Beams is pointless.

This should have me set for winter now. Thanks pals.

EDIT: Now I'm thinking of splicing that wire and wiring it to both low beams and high beams. Having that extra light on the highway on non-foggy days wouldn't hurt. Off to Home Depot.

Update: Turns out if you use the LightForce wiring kit like I did, and you wire into the low beams, then the aux lights will work on low or high beams. The kit also comes with a toggle switch so you have the option for the foglights with the low or high beams. The instructions told me to wire into the high beams. Who needs instructions anyways?...

Hello,

The 70 Series wiring loom provides a port for a fog light set, complete with switch.

It is located on the harness that goes over the fender to the main light on each side.

Please look at the pictures. The first two are the left side, the other the right side. You can hook up your lights there.

You will also need a dash switch. Again, the connectons are all there.

This setup will make the fog lights work with the aux lights. No need to splice elsewhere.
