In the Dakkar/OME setup - does the 2" lift come from the shackles, with standard (OE spec) arch of the springs; or from arch greater than standard; or from both?

here's why - there's a great spring/axle shop where I live, my springs are smooth and squeak free; I'm thinking about greasable shackles and rearching my OE springs - but do I get standard shackles/increase the arch, or standard arch/2" shackles?

btw - it's 70 degrees, it's spring, it's getting light on the way to work now, life is goooood

I got some lift shackles if you just want to do that. I think the OME lift comes in the leaf springs and you have to use your original shackles. At least that is how mine was done.

Shackle=Cheap Body lift but decrease ride quality similar travel
Sprigs=$Cost Better ride and travel and body lift to boot.

Also remember a 2 inch shackle will only give you 1 inch of lift.
(Axle is in the middle of the spring and the pin end stays put)

Re-arching wont last that long. They will be flat in no time.

moderation

it's all about moderation...to maintain ride quality, get the lift you want, so on and so on...
rearched springs do last for only a season, but mine were rearched a total of 4" 2 years ago and have only lost between 1 1/2" and 2"...so it was well worth it i feel.
Even lift blocks can be ok if moderate (no bigger than an 1")....lowered spring mounts, 1" larger shackles, add-a-leaf, body lift (no bigger than 2").
just my opinion, but that sorta idea will produce nice clearance with slightly modified drivability.
oh well

Search, this have been covered tons.

OME gives you a spring lift. Not body lift as stated above. I suggest you look around on here and get some info. Then come back and ask away with questions not answered. (Most if not all will be though.)

Please do not do what polk is refering to with lowering spring mounts.

search was done, as always. Alot of good information. And just augments the responses from people that want to comment.
Thanks to all who did. I'm deciding on Dakkars.
BTW - 87's rule.

Good choice, Might even be able to save some $ by buying a set-up used.

sorry if I was a little rude, seemed to post that several times the other day.

my SN came from when I bought my cruiser. I owned a 89 Mustang 5.0 and then my cruiser happened to be an 89 as well. :)

Keep us posted on your lift and stuff!!
