I've got a 60 lb. Lab/Golden Retriever mix ("Hobbes") that lost a rear leg to bone cancer a couple of years ago (It looks like we caught it in time as he is a perfectly healthy, happy, and active 3-legged dog). I initially tried a ramp style appoach, but he wasn't having any of it. What I've found that works is the ol' "one arm under the dog belly and hoist" maneuver is the quickest and easiest method. I hoist the back half, and he jumps up with the front - just like he used to be able to do when he was a quad-paw. My wife refers to it as "the dog belly assist." Hope that helps.

It seems many of us have dog as our co-pilot. For me, there are few passengers better than Mr. Hobbes.

I have two black labs (sisters from the same litter). My 60 has a 3.5" lift and 33's.............one dog can make it, the other puts her front feet on the gate and waits for me to lift her in. Call it part of your daily exercise routine.

Get one of those little dogs that you can carry around in a little Gucci purse.

Just kidding, I have a 120lb Saint Bernard that I have to do the "belly lift" on to get her in my stock suspension 60. Most of the time, the ramps just freak out the dog, my buddies Weimeraner wont go near his.

I have a greyhound, too. Same experience Bigndn described. He can get his front feet up there but I have to lift him up the rest of the way..

I improvised a ramp once with some boards I had lying around and it wasn't going to fly with the dog.

I'm sprungover with 2 eight yr old greyhound cross mutts. They're both able to jump in so far but the female has hurt herself jumping out a couple of times. I have to try to grab her now before they bound out on me. As they age I'm sure I'll be doing more hoisting.

My basset hound jumps through the window of my lifted FJ60:grinpimp:

my 62 is in the process of a spring over and ive been contemplating the same for my malamute.

i think i am going make a ramp thats attached to the top of the tail gate and unfolds. probably a 3 fold. carpeted so she doesnt slip.

assuming she'll use the ramp. treats are always a good bribe.

good luck.

Blue Healer jumps in easy, but then he can clear a Three rail wood fence also.

most of you know about falco, the rottie, i've just picked him up and put him in. Mom was looking at ramps though, i spose you could just keep a piece of plywood in the back, maybe dress it up with some diamond plate or cargo matting

Mine is a 140 lb bull mastiff who I have to PICK UP to get his big ass into my 62 with 33's and a 2.5 in shackle lift.
Ive looked into the ramps...HOLY EXPENSIVE!!!!!!
Ill just pick him up for the prices they want for those.  :flipoff2:
