Easy to rig. Most auto parts stores have generic license plate lights. They are adequate for passing inspection, but you won't have the stock look.
I have a extra FJ40 plate/light from my old FJ40, I'll bring it in the am and you can take a look.

Unoman failed me in his knowledge of electrical issues on my 40. He was demoted from MacGuyver to Macgruber. He then kicked it, and it started working.
Mark, I'll be happy to trade you some lights- ones with a ground. Also your cage-metal light covers too- be happy to take those off your hands.
So does that make me the Fonz then?

FWIW - I'd just order them from your favorite Toyota dealer, the part you're looking for is 8127860090 (you need 2) 
They were like $12 ea last time I checked ...

I will check it out. I thought they cost around $30 each. If I can troubleshoot it correctly, folks are saying it is just the ground for the wire. I guess I will add it to the "list" of what needs to be addressed.
