Hi there.

I've recently picked up a 2009 LX570. I'm going to be setting the car up as a touring vehicle and have managed to get a bullbar, rear storage Drawers etc sorted but I can't find a snorkel.

Just wondering what you lot have found in the US of A?

Thanks in advance.

I love the drawers. Check with SLEE.

Drew,
I've not seen an LX with a snorkle yet, but I would expect it to be the same as the LC, since the air breather is in the same location under the hood.

Love Brisbane, BTW. Spent a short time there for work and would love to get back some day!

Nice LX. Over here they only come with the blinged out 20s/21s that you have to replace.

What kind of bullbar did/are you getting?

Hi Drew,

I recently fitted a Safari SS87F to my 2012 LX, but beware it's not a bolt on, the guards are actually quite different in profile. The plumbing side was fine, however the guard itself needed some "massaging" to get it right. The end result was perfect, and I also even plumbed the 2 smog pump intakes into it too.

So what have you sorted for a bull bar, that's one of my next jobs to massage an ARB?

The 2010 onward had the 20"/21" tire combos here too. I was keen on the early ones as they didn't come with the extra body kit parts here either. They'd last about 30 seconds off road.

I'm going to go with the ARB Sahara bar. There is an ARB dealership here IN Brisbane that's done one before so I'll take it to them for fitting. The one in the picture doesn't have the centre hoop, I'll go with the centre hoop like in the second image

Hey HDJ105,

That sounds very promising. If you could, I'd really appreciate some pictures of the final product on your vehicle.

Cheers mate

I was not aware that you could fit the ARB on the LX. Do you have to do a bunch of modifications to fit?

Hopefully not too many, from my prework I believe the Summit bar to require the least mods, time will tell it's still in the box.

Here's 3 pics, it looks like a snorkel. ;)

Looks great, thanks for the pictures.

On the massaging, was it a fair bit or just a push here and there?

I don't suppose I could please trouble you for another picture from the front HDJ?

Also, did you use the template provided with the SS87F without needing to modify the mounts etc?

I'm also going for the Summit Sahara bar.

You have the Summit bar and you're going to out in in an LX?

I've asked several folks here about this and there just are not many who've added bumpers to their LX. Save of course for @sleeoffroad, who has added that same bumper seen above. He mentioned that the bumper sit inside and under the plastic bumper facia. You can actually see that in the picture above. His concern was that the bull bar's vertical braces would require material removal from the grill and those angled bumper pieces.

With that said, I was going to get some help from my composite and metals tech folks to make this work. I was thinking I'd need to push the bumper our an inch or so further with hardware, either store bought or we could make it in the shop. Next we talked about doing a mold and then doing an upper carbon fiber bumper.

I think I'm determined to get the Summit on the truck haha

On the snorkel, yes I used the supplied template and yes the holes all seemed to be in the right spot. Of course without drilling the main hole, you cannot real assess the snorkel for suitability because you cannot hold it against the guard. It was a huge leap of faith on my part to start drilling my new to me LX with a 114mm holesaw!

Because of the difference in the guard profile, the snorkel needed to be heated gently and the body crease that starts just behind the headlight was impressed into the rear front edge. The guard area behind the snorkel copped some denting to shape, the area of the guard at the very top edge of the snorkel needed to be pulled outwards to match the snorkel. Once bolted up, the top of the snorkel also was a couple of inches form the A pillar, so with some more gentle heating and a ratchet strap I pulled it back in again.

Re. bar, the uprights on the Summit are slimmer so shouldn't interfere with the grille, the MY16 model's nose (grille) sticks our further. I'm hoping this will be similar to the LX.

That is exactly what I was thinking as well! Excited to see your progress.
