Can u please advise me if it's worth to buy this lexus lx450 with factory lockers and in good condition, with 235,000Km
(local car from canada). The only problem I see is some rust on the hood and around the back of the truck(minimal).I'm from toronto, and the dealer told me that it's a local truck. They said that they will provide a carfax if i want to buy it. It's $8900.00 canadian dollars. We end up $8000.00....no leaks, drives perfect...Is it worth it?

So... in U.S. terms you found a 97 LX with 146,000 (Miles) and they want us equivalent of $7800.00 (us dollars).

I'd have my own technician or another shop do a used car inspection and give you a idea of what your getting into. Id expect some items but a good tech can give you an idea if the vehicle has been maintained well or walking into a money pit. For that kind of $, Id expect it to be in pretty good shape. And yes, get that Carfax, it will show you also the service history in many cases (only if the shop they took it to reports to Carfax like the dealers do). I would expect the interior and exterior to be in good shape.

Look at the "newbies buying guide" at the start of the 80's section for some things to look for when buying an 80. If your real serious about it it would be worth spending 50-75 dollars to have a full inspection at the independant shop/toyota dealer.

Good luck!

If there is any body rust, don't buy it!

There are plenty of LC/LXs around to buy that don't have rust, let alone other issues that PO have not dealt with.

I imported my last one from California. Easy to do. PM me if you have questions.

Brad

For comparison, I just bought a 97 LX in excellent shape with no rust here in SoCal for $6500. It has 120k miles but no lockers. It has a relatively new $2,000 stereo in it to boot. Lots of people down here selling LX and LCs for much more, but no one is buying then for $8k to $12k they are asking. They just sit for months at the dealer or on Autotrader waiting for someone to pay too much. There are motivated sellers out there, just be patient or get that dealer to drop the price a couple grand. My seller was originally asking $9,400.

Sir Brad,
Thanks for the advised. Can you please teach me the procedure on how to import a car or is there any link that will guide thru that..Thanks again

Thanks for the time and effort that u gave on my thread..Apparently here in toronto, only few u can find this kind of truck..unlike in U.S..Maybe when I learn the procedure of importing..I'll get one from our neighbor. Thanks

Easy stuff bro .. got mine in Arizona about a year and a half ago. ANYTHING from out East is going to be rusty at 10+ years old. The importing is EASY as already mentioned. You will be much happier with a US truck from a desert state. Keep looking and good luck!
