Going to try and upgrade the Rear Entertainment on my 2013 LX while keeping it as stock as possible. Has anyone on here dabbled?

I am just in investigation mode, but I am thinking of utilizing the RCA inputs to pump in Digital Media and the headphone ports to output Bluetooth audio. I am hoping for minimal audio lag. The IR headphones aren't terrible, but they aren't great either. They fit the children horribly.

It's crazy to me that the screens are smaller than my 07 Sequoia system, but unless someone has replaced those tiny screens with only a small opening mod, I imagine I am stuck. I also am short a remote, so if anyone has one to sell or trade let me know.

Also, is there a parking brake bypass on the LX entertainment unit?

Following for bypass- used to be one on market but they discontinued it. Interested to know if there’s another option.

Also anyone have a remote alternative? Mine was missing from my vehicle upon purchase and I want to avoid buying another at the dealer for $500.

For the last question, yes there's a bypass. Here's a link for various options on your 2013 LX.

If we can find someone with a remote we could get them to capture all the IR codes and then we could program them to a universal. I would gladly send the parts needed if we could find someone willing. I am looking at used remotes, but it is just a bummer.

We’ve been getting by in our ‘15 with the factory setup(my 2 year old does have trouble keeping the headphones on). I do have a handful of adapters that increase the variety of things we can play. The best investment was this:

Amazon product ASIN B074DKYT74
I ripped all our kid’s dvds to a SD card and leave it in the car, instead of bringing dvds anywhere. Also, it automatically starts playing the next file/movie, so the kids generally get into the next movie as soon as it starts.

I also have a lightning-to-hdmi adapter and hdmi-to-rca adapter for playing things off of a phone or iPad, including shows downloaded from Netflix/Prime

Awesome, good to know this works. This is along the lines of what I was thinking. The Amazon link didn't work for some reason.

I am about to order the remote. Grrrr

I ended up with an Apple Lightning-to-hdmi, most/all the others had reviews that said they didn’t work for streaming Netflix and I didn’t want to take any chances.

I've got an '11 LX and would be willing to gather IR codes for you guys if you tell me how. Not sure if it differs from the '13.

Tdiantonio is sending me the remote to pull the IR codes off. As long as Lexus doesn't have a proprietary IR system, we should be good. If you will snap a picture and grab a model number off of your remote, we can make sure we keep years and model #'s straight.

I will post the results here and to a database so all will have and test them.

Following this as well for the screen updates. I have a fantasy of upgrading to a tesla screen and then retooling the rear screens to direct feed off of that with maybe some kind of bluetooth dongle for each seat. I have done zero investigation into if it would work, just a daydream for now.

LOL, I have a 3 and a 6 year old. On long family trips its a life saver. If anyone found a way to use and mount the screens off the 16+ I would so do it.

So I found a remote that I had for a 14 LC and it should work for the IR codes.

Carvana sent me a filthy LC before I bought the LX with a rusted out bottom and a rat living in the air filter compartment (I have pics if anyone is interested in how awful Carvana is (They ended up relisting it for sale after I gave it back to them, but I will do another post about it)). Anyway, I took the remote out to wash off the cheap perfume they doused it in and never put it back in the car.

I will test it and see if it is a match and then pull the IR codes later today or tomorrow. For the Win!
