My buddy owns a local junkyard here in Chicago, and came across a wrecked 1999 Lexus GS400 (rear ended by a semi-truck). He called me and asked if I wanted the V8 and any parts off of the car before they crush it. Obviously I said HELL YES!!! So, I think this will be a great opportunity to get a V8 in my new FJ40 roller. However, I have a few questions for those of you who have done a Toyota V8 swap or know something about these engines.
1) I know Toyota/Lexus tend to use key rings on their ignitions and tie them to the ECU. What do I need to pull off of the Lexus to make the ECU usable for the swap?
2) Since all Lexus cars are automatics, will I be able to use this engine with the factory ECU with a custom manual transmission setup? I want to avoid going standalone if possible.
3) Is there a shop or known fabricator on MUD who makes 2UZ bellhousing adapters for NV manual trans?
Any help would be great!
