Well...here it is..the "new" platform has landed at home.

Once I get some of the gobblity goop cut off of it and get a sneak peak under it, I'll come up with a more permanent thread

something looks missing on that thing, cant put my finger on it though. :flipoff2:

enjoy, maybe I'll have to go for a ride and check it out once you start to get it cleaned up.

Lol..ya think you'd "help a brutha out "..

I think the first think is to strip the crap off it..get rid of the bows..drop the surge brake down to level it out.

I was debating a SUA but I'm afraid I'm gonna have start farting around with the fenders...gotta look at in daylight.

Ok fine, if you need a hand I can come help I won't leave you hanging like that

 Thanks!

looks good my friend.. cant wait to see what you do with this one..

Be careful what you ask for.....

Coz look what the cat drug in!?!

A new design!!

This one I'm favoring a "pullout" pod.....4' x7', pull out kitchen, inside dinette, and the bed could expand another foot in width for us "big guys"....lol. There's a a solid cover over the pod that drops down and covers it once its pushed inside for transportation. All the inside goodies get stored inside the slideout when not in use. There wuill be about 14" of flor space inside under the slideout as well.

The roof cranks up...I 've seen this lift system so I'm sure with a little work it could be done. I think fibergass over aluminum frame thats insulated for the roof design. All other walls would be solid wood framed with foam insulation and oak venner panels.

The pod would be supported by adjustable legs hidden in the corners (thank you very much Mr. Swampman). Of course it's not a true Rubicon type trailer, but I think it would come in under 2000 Lbs. GVW

Or...I couuld just do the simple build with the new RTT (ARB Simpson III) and call it a day

Thoughts?

well thats pretty cool .. i have never cooked in a tent or trailer before .. my palomino had had a cook top . had the trailer 10 yrs and never used the burners.. .. but that is another story.. will your slide out be dual purpose as in .. indoor /outdoor kitchen ? in case of emergency type thing

wow, impressive. look forward to watching yr build

The plan isn't going to be to cook inside, but there could be exceptions...but I wouldn't rule out a nice cup of coffee...

wait, you got the new ARB RTT?

No...but after sleeping on this behemoth overnight....I may lean back to orginal plan...a hell of alot less work. I don't want to be building all summer.

wow, impressive. look forward to watching yr build

Thanks..when are you starting yours?

Hey Pat,
This looks as cool as everything else you design. Do you want to design my new fish house next?

Might have to wait til I get the tent trailer project you helped with done. :)

BTW, it's still in the garage resting comfortably til time permits more work. I have wheels in waiting. Once I get axle set up, it will go quick to the next stage.

(Thanks again)

Ok....drugs have worn off and I'm back down from a Sketch up high....

After much thought and contemplation I'm scraping the solid build design. From a personal standpoint I love many things about the first build, that said, my biggest hang up was I had no more room for expansion. The first build is compact, lightweight and pretty slick (in my mind). The down side was no brakes, water and cooler exposed, and not long enought to sleep in (for a 6' footer anyway) but would hold two kids great.

The other side of the new build is I don't want to spend all summer putting it together. If the old one sells in the spring then my backs against the wall to finish this and enjoy the summer. The new platform will have brakes, a heavier suspension, ability to add a water tank and batteries even if I end up raising the floor. I also love the tent on the top, and I've decided on the ARB Simpson III with annex and two ARB 99" awnings out either side. I'm planning on the "kitchen" tops and cabinets to be able to mounted on either side (because some campsites just dictate that). The inside will comfortably sleep two adults (cept maybe Big Bill) and be insulated. There will be connections for a insta-hot shower unit plumbed to a potty/shower tent.

I'm hoping that with the heavy stuff centered between the wheels, and a lightweight, wood framed pod on the trailer, the tent won't make it to top heavy off road, although with the plan to stay mainly at campsites, the new Trail Edition has opened new avenues.

So there it is...enough nights lost sleep tossing and turning on what to do...helmets on, visors down, we're goin' in....:grinpimp:

As always thanks for the support

Pat
