I recently aquired a 67 fj40,and of course its been sitting for at least 15 years outside, needless to say it is rusty! I just bought some property so I figured I needed a ranch rig! So I dragged it home a few weeks ago with not much of a plan, but when you have been playing with cruisers for 20 years the gears start spinning,I had a lot of parts laying around to get this thing going again and leave the body as is,just run it! I was very surprised to find a very original engine compartment, everything was there still! Last night I put some fuel in the tank and filed the points, didnt even oil the cylinders, the engine fired up and idled!!!!! I did not touch the carb or fuel system. Good oil presure, temp gauge good, it idled for 20 minutes, runs smooth, blew out a ton of acorns and mouse bedding!! I love these early engines!

I had some good seats, a roll bar, and some better tires, So I cleaned out the tub and bolted things in,its amazing how quick an old fj can go from dying decay to a fun ranch rig in a matter of hours. So the plan now is to change all fluids,do the brakes and clutch, and figure out what the little lever in the floor does!:D
