I may head up to Boone next weekend and was hoping the leaves would be changing.

You should head up the next weekend and join us up in that area for a Brown Mountain run.. we'll be in Blowing Rock on that Sunday..

I've only heard that the leaves were JUST starting to change, but that was from the local weatherman..

I'll be in Clemson that weekend watching the Clemson/UNC game.

I am going to Boone this morning to play golf, I let you know how they were when I get back.

The color change is in full effect. I was up in W NC this past weekend hiking with Mary. I will post picture of the trees in full fall foilage tomorrow after I have recovered.

Above 4500 ft the color change is getting close to peak. Grandfather Mtn, Boone, Banner Elk, Beech Mtn all had great color over the weekend at higher elevations.

Yes the leaves are definitely peak around Boone, there were actually quite a few bare trees already at the course we played but the color was great. You sould still be in for some great color. Heres a pic from the course we played in Banner Elk.

Cant beat $20 greens fees......thats with a cart!

That's beautiful. it looks like we may not go since I waited too long to try to find somewhere to stay.

Probably past peak in Boone.

went this weekend. Asheville to Boone was almost peak...will not be worth seeing past next week IMO. Boone to Mount Airy was about as good as it is going to get. If you have any interest in going then I would not wait beyond next weekend. We had a little trouble getting a room in Boone as well. everything we were finding was around 200+ per night....then checked expedia and found the super 8 in Boone on 105 for 120....was nicer than I expected and worth it. had a nice trip on the parkway this weekend. Good luck to you.

Wish I had known you were up there Eric. The wife and I spent the weekend along the BRP as well.
