I'm thinking about putting the aatlas leather in my 80. Does anybody know how to put it in? I'll pay - I'm just having a hard time justifying $600 in labor cost to the :princess:

I have been watching this leather kit too because the front seats in the '95 are starting to look distressed. I have not even tried to discuss the basic cost of the kit with the princess yet so it is well down the road. However, from what I recall from the posts, it was claimed to be straight forward, but I would expect it to be a lot work and learning the tricks. Any chance that you will charge forward and become the metro Atlanta expert on installing new leather in an 80 series truck?

Good luck in getting this project in hand.

Larry - I would love too but I'm afraid I would mess it up...I am not known as a handyman much to my dislike. If I could get some help figuring it out I might jump in the pool and learn how to swim though...I still have to convince the wife to go with these and not the wet okole covers though.

how about sheepskins

I bought 40 buck sheepskin seat covers for my 4runner at Costco because I could not justify the money to repair cracked leather seats. They have been great, even after I left the sunroof open and it rained last fall., just pulled them off, tossed them in the washer with some woolite and let them dry. I did have to pull my seats out and go through a bit of drying out, but it was fine.

I would just get some high quality seat covers. There is several companies that make them specific for your vehicle and if you wheel at all you ill appreciate the neoprene covers. But thats just me. I looked at a complete set for my FJC and it was going to run me like $300 but they are made for my truck not just universal.

Ive been looking at a full set of wet okole covers with the full piping. They are nice but expensive. Just under $800 for all 3 rows.

I put the AAtlas leather in mine. I did the front seats about 3 years ago and never go around to putting in the middle row yet. It has held up well but I have not put that much time in the saddle since I got a company car. It is straight forward once you get the hog rings cut from the old leather and pull on the new. not much to mess up. It's like putting on socks. I did replace the driver seat bottom foam but when I got the old one out it was in fine shape.

Would you mind helping me put my front seats in and I will help you get the back in?

Sure, be glad to.

If you can set this up, would you mind an audience? I would like to watch & learn from such an opportunity. Also, the audience will have hands and could readily be called up on to use them.

Thanks

Sure thing - I want to meet you guys anyway - I couldn't make the meeting on Tuesday but will hopefully make it next month

if somebody has a camera we could record it and make available to the club.

I may be interested in the show as well...I'm pretty sure I have a set of hog ring pliars also (been wanting to replace foam in mine...trucks not worth fixing leather)
