I have been looking for a 100 for few months now, with no luck.
stopped by a used car lot and jumped in a 03 4runner sport and was pleasantly surprised.

Besides the obvious size difference, is this vehicle going to be as durable as my 80 or a 100.

Are these made in japan or US

Are the 03's a good choice.

We are passionate about our 80s and 100s, should this be on our list of must haves?

Is it really a smaller newer 100?

Thanks for your input, i have looked through many of the threads on this forum, fyi.

It's definitely not a smaller Land Cruiser, as I was hoping. Lighter duty all around, not flimsy by any means, but lighter than the LC. It won't be nearly as durable as an 80, and somewhat less durable and much less luxurious than a 100. I have a 100 for family trips, it's nicer in every way, but I'm very happy with my 4R for my highway and around town uses.

I saved a bunch of money over a LC by getting a 4R, around $11k with 60k on it, uncommonly good deal. I thought hard about various awd sport wagons, but this is twice the vehicle compared to the same price Subaru or VW/Audi, which I've owned and maintained. It should hold up much better and require much attention than a sport wagon.

Made in Japan

It is tied for second in least deaths per passenger mile, maybe partly because of the type of people who buy them.

'03 is good, each year they get better.
