The steering rack's input seal is leaking pretty good on my wife's '97 4Runner. I have not had any luck in identifying the seal itself or its dimensions. Replacing that would make more sense that replacing the whole rack. Does anybody have any information on that seal? Maybe a dead rack from which a seal could be removed and measured? Thanks in advance.

Never mind...

I answered my own question. I called the dealership on the off chance that the first parts guy I talked to was retarded. As it turns out he was. Toyota sells the seals individually.

Can you please post up a Part Number for that seal? 4WD?

i had the same problem.i will look around the garage tomorrow to see if i still have the boxes in wich the products came

Any luck replacing the seal?
My 00 Tundra is leaking from the same seal. The procedure in the FSM to replace it calls for removing the steering wheel pad, AND the steering wheel, AND the rack....

I was wondering if its possible to just separate the steering shaft, and pull the valve housing off the top of the rack to replace it.
