So I have been smelling coolant lately and filled up my resorvoir yesterday. Look today and it is down again. Grabbed a flashlight and could see the coolant coming from the bottom of the radiator. So do I try to get this radiator fixed? Or just get another? Aftermarket or Oem?

yeah I just looked at aluminum and no way I need that or want to pay that much. Oem is about 399.00 right? Ill check the links- thanks

I have never had one repaired that worked well for long, waste of time. My 2 cents Mike

my luck with having things like this fixed is sh*t- I am not playing with cooling. Damn they are expensive.

Looking at radiator barn- they have one but it has auto tranny cooling. Should I call for one without trans cooler? or can I use this one?

bought that same one several months ago. just get two 1/4 NPT plugs and silicone sealant and the fix is in.

The trick when you silver solder is to use Harris 15. You guys are right most of the time many cannot do it but if it leaks at the tank your chances are high you can fix it but anyplace else and I would buy a new one.

it is leaking what looks like right at the seam on the bottom.

I agree with the masses..New is better than old & repaired. $265.78 is low cost piece of mind for a cool running engine.

Just to get an overall consensus on aluminum. Is it a waste of money? Cooling is one area I dont want to mess around with and wish I upgraded down the line.

Ok Rick Arflin Toyota and the mud discount made it tolerable. Having a bit of a OEM OCD when it comes to the cruiser- I went with an OEM radiator. It was more than the radiatorbarn, but I intend to be buried in this rig, Or living in it because I am broke.

Curious how much the OEM radiator cost, if you care to share. My FJ62 had the radiator replaced by the PO last year. The service invoice said the radiator was $750 just for the part.
