I was planning to ask this question for years, I guess it is finally time to try and fix my suspension.
I have EMU Suspension probably 2" lift. It is extremely rough. Does this look normal? To me it looks like the springs are crushed. Would it affect the ride?

They look pretty normal to me. What do you mean by crushed?
Probably a little bit of sag according to your shackle angle which usually makes them ride a little softer.
It's possible you have a Old Man Emu heavy lift kit and not enough weight so it rides stiff. You have 7 leaves up front but I"m not sure how many each lift has. It's also possible there is something wrong with your shocks. New shocks and maybe removing a leaf from the pack and then cleaning/graphite when apart would help.

Is it like old truck rough?
Jarring?

PS: your knuckle is leaking and it would be a good idea to trim those u-bolts up a little.

Haha don't worry this is an old picture. Front axle has been rebuilt by now.

By crushed I mean those 4 nuts on the u-bolt were over torqued. I was always under impression that leaf springs need a bit of space and grease. I will try to take a better picture when I get home.

Is it a good idea to take out a spring on an older suspension? Should I just leave it be?

You could always check what torque they are at now to make sure. I'd have to look at the manual to remember but it's probably around 75~90ft lb of torqu.
Some people are OK re-using Ubolts, some aren't You could always loosen them then re-tourque to make sure it's at the right setting. If that doesn't do it, you can always take apart, clean/grease them and see if that helps?

Does this look normal?

They dont look too bad to me. The leaves over the axle are touching and the ends are still separated by those plastic wedges which is normal. THE 73/74 series takes the same leaf pack as a 60 series and maybe a little light for the leaf pack.
It wouldnt hurt to take a leaf out, probably the 4th from the top.
But what are your shockies like?
