Cleaning and grinding the front of wrecked hj75 frame. What would have caused this damage to the shackle mount? Airborne and landing so the springs inverted the shackles? Like 'dukes of hazard'?!

Shackle inversion may be the cause, or that spot was used as a recovery point.
In any case: Doesn't look like a one-time incident. That frame took some heavy beating.
Regards Ralf

all the fronts of the shackles mounts have the same bent curve which lines up with the spring ends as if the shackles had over extended and inverted. Not just one. Never had seen it before myself. Number one cross member was cracked right through too. Yes a serious beating. I have a replacement no.1, so going about cleaning, grinding and repairing.

Felde, did you make a youtubby vid on rebuilding the h55f?

Hello,

It looks like the PO liked to make jumps on a frequent basis.

The factory recovery hook captive nuts are missing. Quite likely the PO broke the original shackle mount sometime in the past and repaired it with whatever parts he could get.

Could you take a pic of your recovery hook captive nuts please?
Yes it does look like it has been repaired before.. I think I can patch it up again.

Hello,

I just have a picture of the installed factory hook.

Thanks Juan, that is interesting, my good troopy hasn't got that and that is a pretty good chassis on that one. Looks like it braces the frame to the shackle mount. What year, model and region is that from?.

Seems to me the shackle length would be so as to not let the spring eye contact that area of the hanger, perhaps the shackle bolt broke at some point and the truck was driven back home with spring on frame?

Hello,

They are from a short wheelbase model.

I found a couple more, without the hooks.
