Today I got a series of error messages (LDA malfunction and Blind Spot Sensor malfunction) leaving a parking space after being parked outside for about 90 minutes. I called and made an appointment with Toyota and will have it looked at on Thursday.

Then, I ran an errand, and got three error messages: LDA malfunction, Blind Spot Sensor malfunction, pre-collision malfunction; on the way to an appointment.

Once I was done with the appointment and headed home zero error messages! Argh! Anyone see this before on a 2016?

Did you recently get any bumper work done? If so, check the connectors for those items.

I happened to be at Slee yesterday afternoon and Brian tried to pull codes for the issue mentioned above and there was nothing. I will clean the front emblem, but did nothing to rectify the issue. Intermittent issues are disconcerting... Thanks @mcgaskins and @indycole for the suggestions.

All the sensors are clean and I am still getting error messages. Now, there is a new message that says the headlight system is malfunctioning. There are still no codes in the computer (I scanned it today). Any other suggestions?

This certainly seems frustrating. I don't have a recommendation, per se, but will share how I'd approach it.

First, the most likely scenario is still that there's debris on a sensor or perhaps a connection somewhere so it's probably worth another visual inspection of all the relevant components. Knowing that a formal debugging process or setting something up with the dealer would be time-consuming, the next thing I'd do is let the truck chill with the battery disconnected for a while just to verify that the errors return.

Finally, I'd follow whatever the process is in the service manual for diagnosing these issues which probably includes taking readouts from the ECU. At some point dealer equipment may be required (i.e. validating CAN bus comms are working), though I'd be surprised if there's an issue at that level. Most likely, this process would lead you to a specific circuit that is shorted, has a broken wire, too much resistance, etc.

I wonder if some mud could have gotten buried in a connector somewhere from our GJ trip?
I got under it yesterday and looked at all the connectors and they look fine. Also, why is the headlight system now an issue?

Just a random thought but if you have cleaned the emblem as Matt says and checked the codes and still nothing is it possible you have rodents chewing on wires? I have heard of strange electronics issues occurring when that happens.

Thanks for the comment. We have a garage cat that does a very good job at keeping the rodent population at zero.

Given the addition of the headlight issue, I'd also inspect any areas where harnesses go through the front sheetmetal to see if something is rubbing? Did you ever sort out your creaky noise issue? Just wondering if that's related in any way...

I disconnected the battery for 15 minutes, reconnected the battery, let everything "reload" and the problem appears to have gone away after a 15 minute test drive. I have to go on a 2 hour drive later today so we shall see it the problem has "gone away" with the battery disconnect and system reset.

I also had a look at the firewall connections as @indycole suggested and everything looks secure. With the exception of a bit of mud from the recent Grand Junction trip @mcgaskins mentioned, the truck is very clean with <32K miles on it. The sensors in the Slee rear bumper look good too.

@indycole I have not figured out the "groaning" yet, but strongly believe its a synthetic bushing on the left SPC UCA that Slee installed.

I drove 83 miles north and the 200 is flashing malfunctions and dinging like crazy. At some points it’s about once per second. I disabled LDA, and blind spot assistance and it’s still giving pre-collision malfunction warnings. I stopped again to clean sensors and now none of the cameras work. This is starting to look like an ECU malfunction. I hope I can get back home...

My remedy for this came before any error codes.

-A couple days agter buying my 200 & being annoyed by beeps…I pushed the little button (OFF…) and have lived happily ever after without beeps or parking sensors.

On the other hand, I eventually backed into my wife’s car in our driveway.

On the third hand…I still leave parking sensors off. ;)

She should know better than to park there! 😀

Heh…
She was in my 200 passenger seat as it happened…

Left her Outback's bumper dangling off one side…
…Minor scratch to my Slee rear.
The 200 always wins. :princess::steer:
