Every single time I get in the car and the LDA cuts the throttle and starts screaming as I cross a line is giving me the red mist. Has anyone been successful in defeating this nuisance? I've been reading a bit on the opencan project on github and suspect that will be able to do it, but it's a lot of learning for me before I'll get the outcome. Cheers

I turned mine off permanently. Do not remember sitting at my desk but one of the buttons on the right side of the steering wheel.

If you can get my car to stop setting the parking brake when I open the freaking door I'll send you a bottle of gin.

Are you talking about the automatic parking brake function? If so, with the vehicle stopped, press the brake pedal, press down on the parking brake button until a buzzer sounds and you should see a message on the screen saying EPB interlock disabled.

Only works on a per trip basis in my AUDM vehicle :(

I did raise this topic a while ago here but unfortunately there is no practical solution known yet.

It's seems like only our colleagues in the US got the privilege of permanently disabling it while other imports like AU/GCC are lift to suffer (which is a classic Toyota move).

I have seen some people go as far as covering the "lane watch camera" with a tape which appears to do the trick, but I won't call it "practical" as it may also block "lane keep assist" if this is something that you are using. Otherwise, cruise control and all other functionalities will work just fine as they are using radar.

For example if I open the door to look back when I am parking, and if the car is in reverse (or drive), it sets the parking brake. I imagine that this feature is because Anton Yelchin could fly the Starship Enterprise, but could not determine if his POS Jeep was in park and it ran him over.

Why would you have to open the door for that? Plenty of cameras and mirrors in the car. IDK, but I feel that the percentage of people wanting to open the door while reversing is probably lower than the percentage of wives/ladies "forgetting" they are in drive or reverse while stepping away from the car and smashing other cars/people/gates/you name it.

Backing up trailers? Cannot see my trailer out the rear window of the vehicle. If I want it snug against a curb or lining up with the sides of the ramp into my shop, I like to open the door. As a bonus I have closed the door and selected reverse fast enough that the vehicle still sets the parking brake.

I see, my solution wont fix that

I missed the gin offer. I like Tanqueray 10.

Get youself a Torx T30 and remove the push-to-break door jamb switch. Unplug the single wire connector. Tape a zip tie to it as the wire tail is short, just in case you want to undo this. Re-fit. Obviously the car now thinks the door is always closed, so if, like me, you run power steps, you'll need an override switch instead of just the disconnect.
