@WarTruck Are you interested in doing the work yourself if you have some guidance or are you hands off?

I'm definitely up for doing it myself. I have worked on lots of BMW's, Mercedes, a 4Runner I used to have, a Montero, a Porsche, and some other random cars and trucks - but I have never done a solid front axle rebuild before. I need it to be done right because I plan to drive this truck a long time, and I'm married now with a little girl, so it needs to be right. Gone are the days where I could waste hour after hour in the driveway turning wrenches and experimenting with project cars in various stages of build. As long as I can get the job done properly and within a day or two, I'd be happy to do it myself.

In that case, you can get it done in your own driveway. There are a couple of videos out there articulating how it's done, as well as the FSM, which outlines every step.

Do you have space at your house? If you need tools, a bunch of us have what you need to lend if you don't have them already.

I will do some perusing on YouTube and see what I can find, thanks.

Is there an online FSM somewhere?

I could do it in my driveway, sure. I have plenty of metric sockets and so on, but nothing Landcruiser-specific. I understand there's a big axle nut socket needed, and maybe some other things...?

Man. If people are getting 1000 then i need to start rethinking what i charge.....

I just threw that number out there. I figured parts $500, labor $500, but that's a complete random guess. I guessed too high...?

If you are willing to learn i can help teach you here at my shop and not charge a full price but you will get greasy.......

That's a really great offer, thank you. I don't mind getting greasy, not one bit. Where are you located?

I don't know where the FSM can be found for an 80. Someone in this club does, I'm sure.

The big socket is a 54mm, or 2 1/8". I have the latter.

Also needed:
- brass punch
- snap ring pliers
- fish scale (to use the method in the FSM)

Thank you.

I'll start searching on Mud and see what I can read about the job.

While I have you, let me ask - what's the difference between the individual and the family membership for ONSC? I didn't see any specifics on the website, although I might have missed it. Would like to try to make Logan's Run '14 if I can, as well.

The family membership for ONSC is to help pay for the extra event costs that a family costs vs. a single person, specifically for event materials and food.

Raeford / Fayetteville.

Gotcha. Well, I definitely appreciate the offer. I'm going to read up some more on the front end job, and start ordering parts - then I'll drop you a line closer to the time. I'm going to try to join up for some of the local meets and events, so I might meet you before then anyway!

Ok thanks. I'll do the family option then. I appreciate it.

Hey WarTruck, are you coming to Logan's Run?
