Unfortunately not something to be had (well, not super close, you can do 20 minutes though). If those are your requirements once you’re north of the Poudre within Fort Collins city limits such requirements cannot be met. The Old Town area is your best bet. There are a couple other heavily traveled areas but they are in newer mixed use developments and further south in town. Old Town has the best mix of restaurants, bars, and entertaining city walking/attractions. If you stay in the north section, close to the river, you’re only 17 minutes from Ted’s Place.

This is great information! As my wife and I start to plan our trip this will help a lot.

Is there a best thread/way to organize an informal swap meet kind of thing for LCDC?

I have a few large 200 parts (CV axle, grille, fog lamp housings) to sell and am looking for a spare Rock Warrior wheel.

Sure thing, you're pretty much limited to AirBnB/VBRO or The Elizabeth Hotel if you want to stay around Old Town.

Here is the area where I'd recommend looking at with the sweet spot really being within the red circle as that'll keep everything within a 15-ish minute walk. AirBnB shows about 50 places to stay during LCDC dates. I squiggled up to Old Town North as it's a residential area with newer houses and townhomes, but it's super close to New Belgium and just 15 minutes walking to all of Old Town.

Other current locals, feel free to join in. I basically lived where that $133 price tag is located but I've been gone for 2 years now.

It's a bit early to get into the nitty gritty but I do miss living in Fort Collins so I'll share a few of my places to eat and drink. This comes with the caveat that I moved away 2+ years ago so what used to be great, might be meh now.

Old Town food and drink suggestions
Silver Grill Cafe
Cinnamon rolls to die for. End of story. This place is a FoCo institution and deservedly so. If someone tells you to go to the truck stop at Johnson's Corner for cinnamon rolls, they're just wrong. These are the sweetest, most indulgent cinnamon rolls I've ever had... and I've had a lot. So bring your sweet tooth. Solid overall breakfast menu, which is the only time I went there. Closes at 2pm anyhow.

Waffle Lab
I have a problem, I like desert for breakfast. They make a good selection of sweet and savory Belgian waffles.

Choice City Butcher and Deli
Excellent lunch spot, bison Reubens were my jam. Solid beers on taps, typically have some harder to find selections. If you're camping/cooking, great variety of quality local meats.

CopperMuse Distillery
Eclectic selection of drinks made with their own vodka, gin, whiskey, and other spirits. When I was there, they had a decent kitchen for small eats, but don't expect to have a meal. Sit on their patio and people/car watch College Ave.

Prost Brewing
While brewing is based out of their Denver location, these CSU grads decided to set up a satellite location in Old Town. As the name suggests, they specialize in traditional German style beers. Plenty of other places to get your new school IPAs and barrel aged whatever, but here the Kolsch is the perfect beer after a day outside in the summer. A lot of their other beers are solid but never blew me outta the water.

Odell Brewing
It's walking distance in my opinion. While New Belgium often gets most the glory, Odell makes some great beer. Odds are if you live east of the Plains, you haven't had it as they don't distribute nationally. This is what makes it worth a stop if you're into beer.

Non Old Town option
Krazy Karl's Pizza
IMO go to the Elizabeth location as this place deserves to be a college dive pizza bar. Get a pizza with cream cheese on it. They seem to have eliminated my fav, Chicken Bacon Ranch (with spicy ranch). Odds are if you ask for a spicy CBR, someone will know what to make. Often have good beer specials.

I'm sure there's 10+ new breweries around town, but beats me what's good these days.

Although this year is not exactly a vacation destination for me I do get to show off my hometown and dig deeper into the trails. I always tend to go elsewhere to go explore... Fort Collins is an amazing city and I think all the out of Staters will absolutely love the town, night life, breweries and of course the scenery/trails. A little different this year is we’ll have evening events every night vs just the opening and closing. Some of the feedback Cole and I got from previous years. Fort Collins gives us a ton of options and the space to do it as we are very limited in the mountain towns. If you need any recommendations on lodging just let me know. Old town is what I recommend good hotel options and is the heart of FC.

I registered a few days ago but having trouble sending the money with Venmo. It is my first time using the app but is asking the last four of Cody's cell. Did anyone else was asked for this??

Yes. I then went to the email I got after I registered and clicked on the link at the bottom of it with Cody's Venmo information. This took me to my Venmo account and ask if I wanted to add him as a friend, which I did. When I went back to the Venmo app on my phone I was not asked for this info and I knew I was sending it to the right person. Hope this helps.

Thanks @RobW0 I'll try it.

i pretty much did the same thing, although I didn’t add him as a friend. I just clicked that I didn’t have his four digit code. It asked me if I was sure I wanted to send some dude $100 that I couldn’t confirm was the right guy. I clicked yes and the app was like, you’re money bro, good luck because it’s gone now. (Or something to that effect.)

Registration completed... whoo hoo !!
Funds transferred as well !!
Guys from Indiana or Midwest: maybe we can make it a road trip?
Cheers !!
Me and my son are taking 70 west from Indianapolis on Sunday morning 26th.
BBQ in Kansas City. Arriving near Lake Granby sometime on Monday.
Fishing the lake Tuesday morning.
On Tuesday afternoon we are going to take 34 (trail ridge road) to Moraine Park Campground (rocky mountain park)
On Wednesday we will do some brief exploring of the park and then head to Fort Collins.
I made reservations at a hotel in old town and a camp site off 14 (Ansel Watrous Campground)
I figure we can make day to day decisions if we want a tent by the river or a hot shower and mattress.
Leaving at 0 dark thirty for Indy on Sunday the 2nd (hwy 80 east)

If your or anyone's logistics overlap mine let me know.

I'm curious how many are bringing kids and ages? My only obstacle right now is due to my 8 year old daughters birthday hitting the same weekend. Trying to sell this as a birthday trip. Other kids her age would go a long way! Life is tough when your board of directors is all girls.

Booked my hotel. I'd love to bring my 4 year old son, but I dont think 2/3 weeks in the LC straight would be his idea of a good time. He loves the day, maybe 2, if were off the road. Luckily grandparents are gonna take him and his brother, and this new one when she shows up this month.
So far its looking like I'll be coming out of Windrock Sunday night/Monday morning, go hard all day, crash somewhere in kansas, then Ft Collins Tuesday.

Registered and paid. Since the offered the PayPal option I logged into my PayPal account that I hadn't used for 2 years and found that I had a balance just over $100! It was like finding a $100 under the seats of my Land Cruiser. I guess going to LCDC (finally) was meant to be! ;) Thanks, Cody.

I'm booked and paid

I also booked site 007 at the Ansel Watrous campground. Planning to arrive on Monday afternoon and stay until Sunday morning. @codyaustin5, et al I'll gladly take recommendations as to what to do/see on Tuesday/Wednesday in the area before the event.

Hmmm, my family has a cabin near Lake Granby next to the Big Rock campground on the back side. Haven't been there in years. Might have to head up early....

Lots of kids attend. Mine are 9 and 7.
