I was wondering if anyone with OEM rock rails could tell me if they stick out enough to provide parking lot/ door ding protection? I see them for sale for a couple hundred $ and was thinking it may be a cheap way to stop door dings? It's a stock height LC250, so maybe they sit too low to stop most SUV or truck doors? Appreciate any feedback.

I personally will be going with some step sliders, probably Slee or similar manufacture. If all your looking for is door ding protection just go with the stock side steps. the OEM rock sliders hug the body and are angled. I'm also planning on installing the body side molding, their is a factory toyota body side molding also.

I got the OEM rails added when I purchased my 1958 a few weeks ago. They are beefier than I thought and stick out enough to prevent door dings but I don't think they were intended to do much more. Still, for the cost I think they're well worth it and they look good.
