I hit a tree branch on a trail a few weeks back going a little fast. The drivers mirror shattered and THEN folded in. Searching around here all I found were references to full assemblies or mirrors with backing plate.
A few web searches later I found Burco brand (USA) stick on replacements on ebay shipped for about $19. I was skeptical but decided to go for it.
I was pleased with what I received, it was a fairly thick cast urethane mirror cut perfectly to fit in place of or on top of the OEM glass. Reflectivity looks like any other. I was half expecting a thick film stick on piece of junk.
They included some foam PSA disks for mounting and suggest mounting over the stock glass. I was not crazy about having mud and water get between the old mirror and the new mirror especially given that the LC has heated mirrors. I ended up using a thin coat of epoxy on top of the old mirror, hoping it will seal out the crap and conduct most of the heat to where it's needed. (urethane adhesive would be even better but I had epoxy on hand and a few minutes of garage time to myself)
All in all I was pretty happy to put the tree slap behind me for <$20 and still have a clear working heated mirror. Hope it saves someone else some headache and $$.
