LC 200 tailgate protector? (1 Viewer)

Sorry if this has been covered before but I'm not finding anything after searching...

My LC 200 has an exposed lip on the tailgate that gets chewed up pretty easily. I can triage it with touch up paint, but I'd prefer to find a way to get something more robust on there so I don't have to worry about banging it. Clear "helicopter tape" could work, but there isn't really a good place for it to adhere to since there is a plastic molded piece that butts up against it.

Has anyone seen a solution like a clear trim piece or similar for this? Thanks.

I use clear door edge protector strips like this: Clear door edge protector

Just trim to length and press it on - has worked well for me for years on my current LC200 and my LC100.

I wrapped the edge with XPel door sill protection. Used the 2.7" width without cutting (wrapping over the edge on both sides) My wife's response was it looked like stock!
The LX570 has a part that covers the jam and handle area..... not sure if this could be retrofitted.

Man, that looks perfect - I ordered some of the clear U trim and already have some Xpel lying around somewhere so will try out both those ideas.

Are you guys covering both the metal and plastic parts of the tailgate, and are you running it all the way out to the edges side to side? By definition, its clear so can't really see what's going on...

Wrapped plastic & metal...covers the gap between the tail gate & door trim.

Never really thought about this, but every once in a while I look at my chipped up 02 tailgate and say "hmmmm."

Ordered the edge guard to see how I like it.
