I have a disassembled L65 (Chevy 6.5L turbo-diesel) off a 1996 GMC Suburban, in my garage right now. I might get a carbureted 1997 FZJ-80 (H155 manual tranny, no fenders!, seats 10, most likely with 4.11 r&P) next week. I'm planning to swap a Peninsular Diesel'ed L65 in it, and run with 36" Simex tyres.

Question:: Should I stay with 4.11 r&p gears on it? Or do I swap in also the Toyota 3.7 r&p gears I also have in hand? I'm pretty much concerned about the L65 redlining at 3,500rpm.

swap the 3.70s in and send me your 4.10 front :D

I guess it all depends if you do a lot of crawling or a lot of DDing ;)
3500 is not that bad, I've seldom felt the need to go over 2500 in a couple of HDJ80s

I've been shoveling the ground in my 4000sq.ft soon-to-be shop :D
Seriously, just hanging around more or less ;)

Now can I have you 4.10 HP R&P ? :flipoff2:
Say hi to your momma :censor:

leave the 411s

leave the 411s - for sure

You're going to want lower engine RPM's with that motor.

Either increase your tire size, or switch the gears.

411's with a l65. that would be able to punch thru a solid brick wall. is there such a thing as too much power? I prefer my four way flashers as I merge on to the highway. Well not really.

Drexx best thing to do is do the math. I have 4.10s, 35" Goodyears (which measure about 33.5 mounted) and a NV4500 (so my 5th is a hair higher, .27 over drive versus .17 (well that's what it it is with a H55F). I top out at about 85-90 mph at about 2200 to 2300 RPMs. Not sure if you want to go that fast. I vote 4.10s for your rig but it depends on how fast you want to go. Those simex tires might measure "true" in which case I would definetely say go for the 4.10s.
