Good morning folks,

I have previously ordered glow plugs from Partsouq, both OEM and HKT glow plugs. I believe HKT to be a reputable aftermarket supplier and they run about $7/plug instead of the Toyota plugs running $20-25/plug. I've recently noticed issues in a few of our trucks;

My LN106 I replaced with OEM plugs when I rebuild the engine, Toyota part #19850-54090. These worked fine until recently I blew out a glow plug relay, my 80amp fusible link failed to break, and the glow plug system melted itself. This truck was a 1990 superglow system. I will be replacing it with a wilson switch, but I need to make sure the plugs that I install are the 'normal' 11v plugs and not the 6v/11v superglow plugs. If I pull up one of my Hiluxes which has a 3L, non-superglow (1994 LN107), the suggested Toyota part is #19850-54120.

Now, comparing the HKT plugs to OEM plugs, in the HKT catalog, they are listed by voltage but none of the plugs for the 3L are listed as the 6v/11v plugs, but are all 11v. In a third truck which has the 3L engine, with superglow, we have been running HKT part #PT-151V which I bought of partsouq in a pack of 10. These plugs seem to be experiencing premature failure with significantly worse starts after only a single winter. In the catalog, these correspond to Toyota 19850-54090, the OEM replacement, but are listed as 11v plugs not 6v plugs. Only the 2L-T is listed in the HKT catalog with 6v plugs. I now suspect that both 3L Hiluxes with superglow have been running the wrong plugs based on the partsouq online catalog.

I found the PT-147 HKT plugs on partsouq in packs of 10, are these the ones I need for 3L superglow? And if all these other plugs only run at 11v, why are there different part numbers when the length/threads/glow plug bus attachement are exactly the same?

And, on another note, if you go look at the Denso catalog, it shows only two part numbers for all 3L/2L engines, and they are both 11v. Part numbers DG-648 and DG-647, respectively.

Does anyone have knowledge of this subject? Please chip in. Thanks!
