Hey all I'm starting to gather the parts and information I need to manual swap my '95 Surf and would like to chat with people who have previously done it. It currently has an A343f Auto and I'm planning to swap in an R151F 5 speed manual. The parts I know I will need are:
- R151F manual gearbox
- Transfer case to suit
- Gearbox crossmember
- R151F to 1KZTE bellhousing
- Flywheel
- Clutch kit (friction plate, pressure plate, spigot and throw-out bearings)
- Clutch fork
- Clutch slave cylinder
- Clutch hard and flexi lines
- Clutch master cylinder
- Clutch pedal
- Manual brake pedal
- Driveshafts front and rear
PLEASE COMMENT ON ANY PARTS I MAY HAVE MISSED OR DO NOT NEED
I've read that you can trick the auto ECU into thinking the gearbox is in park which means you can bypass buying a manual ECU. This would be good as my auto ECU has had money spent on being repaired in the past and works flawlessly. has anyone done this and can confirm that it works? I have heard that it will throw a fault code but that isn't an issue in the grand scheme of things.
I'm mechanically minded and have a full workshop with a hoist and all tools I could need plus mates to call on for an extra set of hands.
