hi i have a kzj78 prado

i have done a manual hub conversion..
been 4wding for ages, mint no issues...

i am now having a issue where once im at about 40-50km/h i start to get a whine almost sounds like a gearbox bearing.. strange that it take to that speed to do it tho?

i thought maybe a wheel bearing.. but all ok?
i thought maybe my truck was locked in 4x4..

climbed underneath and tried to turn front driveshaft, but with it running/not running in 2wd the front driveshaft will not turn, should it turn round and round freely by me doing it by hand? it seems to turn about 1/8th of a turn and then no further but will come back that 1/8th of a turn..

when i put it in H4 it goes tight and will not move at all. which im guessing is normal?

so my question really is with my truck in 2wd should i be able to turn the driveshaft by hand round and round?

thanks adam

It should turn freely in 2wd without the hubs locked.
What is the green dash light doing?
Try reversing and switching to 2wd
Check the vacuum connections from solenoids to the shifter and from vac pump to solenoids.
Check electrical connections to solenoid
Try switching vacuun hoses, often one will still be working

If it leave mine in 4H with the hubs locked it gets an unhealthy vibration on the road, but I have driven some long distances with it locked in with no apparent damage

yea it wont turn freely..
green light on dash working normal comes on with H4 button in and off with button out..
i tried swapping the vacuum lines over to manually do it at the things on firewall (had a88 cruiser with stuffed solinoid so did this for 2wd/4wd changing) and it didnt change anything..
tried swapping the vacuum lines at the transfer even and no change?

I seem to remember the light comes on/off when it gets a signal it has shifted in/out of 4wd.

Ive never had to do it but is it possible to pull/pry it out of H4 at the shifter?
