Hi all.. I just changed my absorbers & shocks ( tough dog 2 inch lift ) on my KZJ78 right hand drive ( 1994 ) and notice that the front right side is 0.6 inch lower than the left side & the rear right side is 1.0 inch lower than the left side. Is this normal for the Kzj78 ? The front springs are the same length & the rear right is 10mm longer than the left & they were installed correctly. Did anyone have the same problem..

Cheers

Nigel

I would contact Tough Dog

So you did put in new springs and shocks, or you left the old springs in there?

Pretty much all the lifts for the coil sprung LJ7x/KZJ7x end up like that. One owner bought a lift from Japan that actually came with longer springs for the RHD side, and that fixed his lean. Another option is to install poly spacers. Or just learn to live with it. I don't even see it anymore on mine...haha.

Thanks for the info mate...

I have an Ironman 2" lift and the same happened to my truck. After searching online and finding its a common problem I just manufactured spring spacers of the required height for the side that it was leaning on and all is good now. I suggest leaving it as is for now so it sags all the way before fabricating the spacers, you don't want to do them twice...

Our Dobinsons light and medium load front and rear coils are 10mm taller for the RH side. That still wouldn't compensate for a total of 1" out on the rear end. It must be frame twist over time that has caused it, like the old FJ40's

I don't think it's frame twist. 70 series frames are far stronger than the old 40 and 60 series frames. I see it all the time wheeling when the 40 and 60 series fans hit the shrouds while flexing over obstacles. My fan only has 1/8" clearance from the shroud and never touches even when I have two wheels in the air. Just laying under the trucks and comparing the frames you can tell how much they changed in strength.

Might have to do with the pan hard rods (should be lengthened for a lift). As the axle cannot slide sideways from too short a panhard (because of the radius arms), the panhard might actually be pulling the frame down. Might also have to do with the offset transfer/diffs? Just a little more weight on that one side? Those are my two theories anyhow.
