Hi,

Do any of you have the koyo/timken or equivalent bearing numbers for the front and rear wheel bearings as well as the swivel bearings?

As far as I can tell on the EPC the front wheel bearings are similar to the 80 series, but it would be useful to get some clarification.

Many thanks.

From my HZJ73 with full floater rear:

Front and rear bearings are identical (and indeed same as 80 series front bearings):

outer bearing Timken LM102949, (innerdiameter 45,25 mm) with outerrace LM 102910 outerdiam 73,48 width 15,9 mm

Inner bearing Timken JLM104948, innerdiameter 50,01 mm with outerrace JLM104910 outerdiameter 82,00

Oil seal:
Codering: Could not find any.
Oilseal T-type:
outerdiameter 85,0 mm
innerdiameter 61,5 mm
Width: 8,25 mm

Oilseal inside for halfshaft(=same as front):
Code: NOK AC8368E
Outerdiam: 41,20 mm
innerdiam: 33,48 mm
Width 9,65 mm

Outer (larger) oilseal in front hub differs from seal for rear:

Codering: No code found.
Oilseal T-type:
outerdiameter 85,0 mm
innerdiameter 62,0 mm
Width: 10,0 mm
The shape of the seal differs. Sizes are identical.

All dimensions taken by hand so there are small deviations from real sizes.

Swivelbearings:
Top and bottom are identical:
KOYO Hi-cap TR0305C-9

or:
Malex: Designationnr TFS 0330 A Stocknr.: TR0305C-9

Eventually look at my webpage about replacing/adjusting the bearings for my rig . You 'll find a short write-up and some pictures of the bearing with description.

..... apart from the swivel bearings it all look pretty similar to the 80s.

I'm positive the frontwheel bearings for the 80 are identical to those of my 73. I compared them when we were discussing about which spareparts to take along for our trip to Kazakhstan.

Thanks.

How did you get on in Kazakhstan? I have one or two customers heading that way in the coming months.

Actually out of interest, what tyres did you use for the trip - these guys are going via the 'stans to Vlasivostok and there has been some debate between MTs and ATs.

We had a nice trip. Travelled Poland-Ukraine (Kiev - Charkov) through Russia to Uralsk. Then along the North to Astana (both on and off-road) along Karaganda to Taraz in the South -mainly offroad.
Taraz-Shymkent-Aralsea-Kaspian sea to Volgograd (former Stalingrad) and then back via Ukraine and Poland.

Southern part is the nicest. North is dry and just grass so to say. Hardly any tree.
People is nice and friendly.
Dieselfuel sometimes hard to get. Once we even refuelled with diesel from a railstation, meant for diesellocomotifs.

We all had A/T's (were in a group). That was in the dry season, August - September. No problem.
But I can imagen that, if it's rainy, you can have a big problem.
We were driving tracks near the Kaspian sea when we had some rainfall. Within half an hour the track changed from a dusty but easy to drive into a muddy STICKY goo. It was not so much being slippery but the mud sticked to the rig AND the tyres, making them bulky and heavy.

BTW the link you have in you sign is dead for me, without the /lists/ it works. Are you based in UK? Your name sounds German.

Many thanks for that Ron, apart from the swivel bearings it all look pretty similar to the 80s.

This is sort-of correct.

High pinion 70 series parts look the same as 80 series parts, but are smaller.

The swivel bearings are the same as 40 and 60 series, the inner axle seal is the same as the 80 series. The felts etc. are peculiar to the high pinion 70 series...
